New member here with some questions.
So Ive been wanting an S2000 for a long time now and may have the chance to get one. I recently found one that had been sitting and spoke with the owner. Its a high mile car with 170k + miles and a minor accident repair to passenger front. However it will need a bottom end because it was starved of oil. They are asking 10k because of the engine.
I can pull the engine myself and estimated the rebuild at maybe 3.5k. But some quick searching revealed much higher prices at 5K +. Before I dive into this, Id just like to know what Im potentially getting into? Any hidden surprises? What am I looking to spend realistically? Even if I pull the motor myself.
From some quick reading, the special cylinder lining can not be bored or is difficult. Is that the reason for the high cost? I haven't viewed the car yet but am told it still runs(but knocks). So it hasnt seized yet. Also its the F22c if that helps. Sorry for the long post. Any info you can be provide will be greatly appreciated.
