Just joined group. Finally have enough to go look for a good used S2000. In your opinion, is the 2004 the oldest I should get because of the bigger engine?> what add-ons are an absolute must from biggest bang for the buck and down.

I will be taking this down to run in mexico. Not by choice but because of work. Good part - you can just about drive as fast as you want.. bad part.. if you dont know the road, it can be REAL rough on a car down here...

Welcome. I wouldn't get too hung up on the difference in displacement between the AP1 and AP2. Although a little smaller, the AP1 has a higher redline and many consider it to be a rawer, sportier engine. The AP2 trades a lower redline for a little more low end torque. Many consider the AP2 a bit better of a daily driver, with a 17" wheels and a reworked interior but the price of AP1s is very attractive right now. Give both a drive and see which feels better to you. Good luck.

^^^ What 8_ball said (well stated)... a test drive will definately help you make up your mind. Also read all the stickies pertaining to AP1 vs. AP2; heres a start. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=483593
BTW, Welcome and best wishes with the search.
