New owner in Glendale Arizona
I loved the s2000 the first time I laid eyes on one but they where out of my price range and oddly I never even really considered buying a sports car. I've always loved Honda's as well, owning an 81 civic, 75 CB750F motorcycle, a 96 civic, and a 98 Civic EX coupe. My last vehicle was a Toyota Tacoma, which got totaled and was an interesting story which I had posted elsewhere but I'll include at the bottom of this post. Anyway, after the accident I pulled the trigger and got my first sportscar and a car I've been wanting for years! And I must say after months of ownership I love the S2000!!!!!!!!!

I think I got a great deal on it, $13,000 for a 2002 with only 38k miles. Its in great shape with no major issues. The guy who owned it before me took good care of it, garage kept, and I got all service records and receipts. I've been reading a lot of the info on the forum, checked my convertible top for the start of tears, will check for cracked retainers, etc. I'd like to thank all of you who contribute to the forum and provide us owners with great info!!!!! Thanks.

Two nights ago I was on the way to the airport to pick up a friend of mine when a truck coming down a one way street hit and totaled my Tacoma. While still dazed and with smoke from the airbag deployment I saw helicopter lights in my window. Luckily I didn't think I was seeing the white tunnel of light before I die;
just helicopter lights in my window illuminating the cloud of dust from the air bags. Next I saw this guy fleeing the scene. I got out of my car to see a swarm of about 50 cops (literally) descend onto the scene. They chased the guy down on foot and apprehended him.
I found out the guy kidnapped his ex girlfriend at knife point, was threatening to kill her, then evaded police through 4 cities before my heroic act (
) finally stopped him. My poor Tacoma is most likely totaled and after spending the entire evening waiting around for the detectives (about 3 hours), then finally off to the hospital I was given a clean bill of health and finally home at 6am. Just banged and bruised from the seat belt and air bag. My chest hurt a lot that night and it was difficult to breathe and talk, and especially use my arms to open doors, etc. But I'm feeling better already this morning. Here's the story on the local newspapers website:

Sorry to hear about your Taco. Thats a very scary story, I'd probably be traumatized for a bit if that happened to me.
$13,000 for an 02' with 38k miles is a great deal. You plan on modifying it or leaving it stock?

And I was fine emotionally and physically. I plan on leaving my s2k mostly stock. I've done enough other "hobbies" to know that no matter how much money you dump into something, the excitement of the new parts or upgrades wears off. In the end, you just need to hold onto the essence of why you loved the hobby in the first place. So I'm just going to keep this car mostly stock and enjoy its "pure" essence. Of course, I'll sit on the forum here like I have and do tons of reading and I'm fine with spending small amounts of money on things that are worth it. I've already purchased Modifrys convertible top straps (mine are loose), leather and convertible top cleaner/conditioners, and have worked on some of the rattles and noises (seat belt on leather, rear speaker hitting part of the frame, etc). So it's fun to just dink around with the car and not spend tons of cash. Next is a modifry shift beeper mostly because I've started to take my eye of the tach (which isn't a bad thing, I'm keeping my eye on the road!!!). I went into rev limiter for the first time recently, so after that I promised myself I'd get and install the rev beeper.
