Hey whats up, I've been browsing through these forums for maybe the past year. It's really a great community of people here and i'm glad i can now be a part of it because i now have a 2006 GPW S2000 with about 65miles on it when i drove it off.

I have a few questions though. I have almost 150 miles now, but the past 80 miles, i've been driving it a little harder than i should. I've shifted probably a few times over 5500RPM, redlined it twice, and even worse I rev-matched and shifted down from 5th to 2nd (missed 4th) and it was bouncing off the rev-limiter like crazy. It was only for about half a second thank goodness but I got so scared, my heart was about to rip out of my chest Should I be concerned about any future problems? I don't know how others feel when they first got the car, but it's HARD not to push it a bit. I'm gonna really go easy on it from now on, until 600 miles Please tell me my car is ok

Hope to be active with the great community that's here. And I hope I'll get a chance to meet other S2k owners around my region!

Congrats! GPW is nice.

You should be fine... I didn't follow any break-in procedures with my new RSX Type-S. Had 11 miles when I got it. Ran like a champ until I sold it at 25K miles.

BTW, would you mind sharing how much you paid?

You might look for threads in "talk" and "under the hood" for insight about an over rev. An over rev can cause damage to your valve retainers. I woud have it checked out to be sure there is no damage.

You really shouldn't be pushing the engine hard during break-in, y'know. Your couple of trips to redline are probably no issue, but of course Honda doesn't recommend that during break-in...

Hard to know about the over-rev. That's a potentially big problem. You can crack the valve retainers and cause serious damage.

FYI, the rev limiter only stops you from applying enough fuel to spin the engine too quickly. It has no bearing on what you did -- downshifting and mechanically forcing the engine into overrev.

Good luck. If I were you, I'd have the valves and valve retainers inspected.
