New S2000 Owner - Houston
Thats crazy man I just got rid of my Si for a 05 NFR with similar mileage. You get a good deal? Youre going to miss the Civics comfyness? lol after a month or so but only tell you start ripping around some corners.
Welcome to the board.. Sorry to hear about your Civic... glad you are ok, and welcome to the site!
I know everyone has asked a thousand questions about you and your car.... I have a question as well.
How good are you at writing? Care to write a quick blurb about what happened, why you chose the S2000, what you like (and dislike) about it in terms of initial impressions and what you plan on doing with it?

I'm not entirely good at writing but I'll try my best.
The accident happened the day I was coming back home for Spring break. I go to school in San Antonio, but I live in Houston. Anyways, I decided to leave a bit early that day which is kind of unusual for me. Usually, I leave during the later times around 7-8pm that way I avoid traffic. But that day, I wanted to come home early to hang out with my friends and family. Long story short, I was in Sealy at the time of the accident (about an hour from Houston), when the Ford F-250 in front of me slammed on his brakes. The speed limit there is 75 mph but at the time I was going 70mph. The Ford F-250 hits a Silverado in front of him which makes the F-250 stop even faster. By that time, I was doing my best to brake but it wasn't nearly enough to stop. The F-250 pretty much went from 70 mph to 0 in what seemed like an instant. I couldn't dodge to the right lane since their was a semi nor could I go to the shoulder lane because of the guard rail. At the time of the accident, I was only aware that my car and the F-250. I immediately leave my car and come to find that there were another 3 cars in the front that were involved. It was like a domino effect, since everyone hit each other. In total, it was a 5 car collision on a major interstate.
Starting from the front car to last: Newer gen Altima sedan, Silverado or Audi q5, Ford F-250, my Civic. I don't know who the 2nd or 3rd car in line was because the Audi q5 ended up in the right shoulder lane when the accident took place in the left lane. All in all, no tickets were issued and no one was hurt. I'm very grateful to walk out with a few minor cuts and bruises.
**Lol, on a side note. This made me realize how terrible I am at writing. I guess that's why I'm an IS major**
Why I chose the s2000?
Honestly, I thought the s2000 was extremely nice. But that was the last car on my mind. It would be so inconvenient for a college student such as myself that constantly drives back and forth from San Antonio to Houston. I wanted something a little bigger with better a/c, but was still fun to drive (My civic a/c was terrible). I didn't want a tsx, tl, or a car among those lines. I wanted a car that I had a huge aftermarket support. I had to pick a car that I could put a down payment on, and continue to pay it off after I'm finished with school this December.
The cars I considered at the time were: 2011+ Mustang 5.0, 2011+ WRX hatchback, 2008+ WRX STI, G37 coupe, 370z. I still wanted to drive something that had a Japan origin, so I didn't even consider any European cars. Not that I hate them or anything.
-I quickly crossed out the 5.0 because the interior was very unappealing to me.
-I test drove a friends g37 and it felt very heavy and bulky. The gas pedal did not feel good at all. I also don't like the clock that Infiniti always has on their dash.
-The 370z was a bit similar to the g37. I didn't like the interior at all. It just looked weird to me. The blind spots were another issue as well.
-The STI was way out of my budget. I've read nothing but good things on the STI though.
-Ahhh, the 2011+ wrx. I can rant all day on this car. I didn't like the interior nor did I like the transmission. It felt very cheaply made, but the boost was nice to drive in. The car started at 27k and that was a base model WRX. It didn't have a sunroof which was a big one for me. The WRX premium was 30k which came with the sunroof as well as some fog lights. At the time, I was almost certain that I would go purchase this used WRX premium for 24k. Luckily, I read up a bit on the Subaru forums. I was reading horror stories of transmissions going out at 30k miles. I didn't like the fact that a stage 2 WRX was pushing it for the motor. This meant that I had to keep the car stock which was something I did not want to do. I wanted something I could mod without worrying about breaking this and that.
That same day I was intending to go get the WRX, I came across an 06 s2000 in Austin. Me and my parents drove up to Austin to check it out that same day. After seeing the car in person, I fell in love! Haha, I knew it would be inconvenient but the car was just so nice. It only had 21k miles and on top of that it was my favorite color. I test drove the car with my Dad in it, and he enjoyed it as well. The only thing I didn't like about the s2000 was the space and the wind noise. But that can't be helped, so it didn't bother me much. I also didn't like the transmission at first because it felt very different from my civic. The transmission felt very mechanical? I don't really know how to explain it. I was use to it after driving the car back home though.
However, there are a lot of things I like about the s2000. The interior on the s2000 is amazing. Coming from a civic, I feel like Honda did not cheap out on the interior pieces. I'm sure other members wouldn't agree but it surely feels a lot better than my civic. I enjoy the extra torque that the s2000 has. Although it isn't a gigantic amount of torque, it's still very noticeable for me. Most of all, I enjoy the cold a/c that this s2000 has haha.
Future plans?
Me being a college student, I don't have much money to work with so there's not a whole lot.
-Forbidden USA Mugen top with 2x2 carbon sides.
-CR Front lip
-Coilovers (Not sure which to get yet. I had BC racing BR coils on my civic and loved them. I know everyone is a big fan of KWv3 but I don't plan on tracking the car or anything.)
-Intake
-Exhaust and test pipe
-Flashpro
-Enkei Nt03 (Always loved this wheels, but I could never get them because they wouldn't look right in the size I wanted for my civic.)
