Cool New to S2Ki. Just test drove AP2.

I don't know what's supposed to go in these introductions, so I'll just go straight out and blabber some information about myself. I'm sure some people could care less, but those certain people shouldn't be in the 'introductions' forum in the first place right?

My name's Ryan, and I'm currently driving a Corolla because my RSX was rear ended a month ago. The damages on the RSX are as of right now just a little over $7000. The car is almost paid off, so I was hoping to trade in my little supercharged beast when I get it back for an AP2 (2004-2005). All the information about my RSX's voyage before and after the accident can be found at this link if anyone is interested: http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=495449.

I went to the dealership today to check out the WRX and the s2k. The salesman was really polite and handed me the keys to a 2007 NFR without me even hinting a test drive, which is imo a big part on his half because I'm 19, and I look like I could be 17. Anyway, I drove it with the top down, and boy is this car amazing. I've never driven a convertible or a roadster in my life, and the attention I was receiving was outrageous! I believe people may have been laughing at me since I had a big smile on my face. Couple things I noticed, the shift throws are really short and precise. I finally get to feel what everyone is talking about, and I agree that it was a wonderful gearbox. After about 10 minutes, and about 1/4 to 1/6 of a gas tank later, we went back to the dealership, and he asked why I wanted an 04-05. I replied with (I don't know if this is exactly true, but it's what I've interpreted from my readings here) "because the DBW system makes tuning more of a hassle, plus it's cheaper". He replied with "well you can get the AEM... it's not like a turbo, but it basically supercharges your car". (At this point my friend and I looked at each other and mentally exploded with laughter) Anyway, I took a look and sat in a GPW CR. He told me the seats aren't leather because you sweat more in the CR because of the lack of an air conditioning system. The AC, I know. The seats that were made for sweating was a new one to me.

Anyway, if you've read all this, I apologize for boring the crap out of you. Here's a picture of the CR from my phone.

No I am not buying the CR, just a picture of one I saw.

Woops, I'm from Houston, TX

Oh, and one quick thing. That front CR lip is a LOT bigger in person. I personally wanted to kick it off.

AEM has a harness now for the 06+ with DBW and tuning is no longer a problem other than fixing the FPR issue if you need more fuel.

In a way, he is right about the AEM "supercharging" your car. It is fluffed sales talk but not very wrong. If you just get it and tune it, you will gain a few hp's. Can't expect the salesman to know every detail of tuning options for the car.

Get the CR

The S is a great car but a few things to remember. It only has 2 seats and limited storage, insurance costs are high and if you need to be careful in the wet, at least with the stock tires. That being said, there are lots of aftermarket bolt-ons to help performance and its a great car that will put a smile on your face every time you drive it. Search around, as winter is a good time to buy. Good luck.

I just sold mine for the reasons the previous poster mentioned.

But I loved the time I had the car - just couldn't keep it anymore.

Also, if you like affordable modding than the S2000 isn't for you. You don't get major gains from any of the bolt ons.
