Default newb here

Hey guys I am new here. I don't have a s2k yet, but am considering buying one. I found a turbo 00 model for sale by me and am waiting to here from the guy about it. Right now I am driving a lightly modded 96 cobra, and am looking for a car that will give me a little more excitment.

I had a few questions though;
what are some things I should look for with the car?

also the biggest is the room inside I will be using it as my daily driver and am a little worried about that. I am 6' and weight about 275lbs I haven't driven one since 03 so don't really remember what the room was like in them?

newb here as well. currently drive an 03 jetta gli with modified (eibach/nuespeed) suspension. i too am looking for something more exciting (and rwd, learned now that fwd sux). i share the same comcern about the s2k's daily driver abilities simply due to its small stature and convertible top. also wonder about maintainance costs, that 9000 rpm redline on the ap1 models. is this an issue?

The lack of space is clearly a subjective matter. It didn't bother me at first since 80% of the time, I'm the only person in it and my trunk is completely empty. But coming from a sedan, I do miss the extra space and wiggle room.

cbags8585: Personally, I would not recommend buying a FI car. You have no idea what the previous has down and how hard they've pushed it. To me, that's just like asking the car to break down or have some major issues. Maybe he did not properly tune the car either. I dont think height will be an issue for you. Just pull the seat all the way back. Maintenance costs arent that bad. I havent heard of anyone having major issues especially on the newer models.

HandleThis: The convertible top is fine. Just dont park in areas that you feel are unsafe. Alot of owners have had their top slashed and seats stolen. My car is always garaged. Another alternative is to purchase the hardtop which will run you about $2800-$3000 brand new.

I completely agree with you on that but the shop that did the install on it does a lot of bmw work and a buddy of mine would take his e46 m3 there. I beleive he knows the owner fairly well so I am gonna find out what they know about the car. It has 63k miles on it and the turbo kit has been on for 1500 miles.

They do alot of BMW work. Your friend brings his E46 there.

The car you're looking into is NOT a BMW. Not saying the shop isn't trustworthy but like you said, they do a lot of BMW work. If the owner did a lot of work on S2K's then I would understand a bit.

Your car. Your choice but I would never touch a car that's FI already.

I didn't think about that until you said something about it. they do many other cars but specialize in bmw. I am gonna check in with the owner of the shop and see if he remembers the car and what all they did with it.

I am not 100% sure yet but I beleive the car has the inline pro kit on it and a lot of other high quality parts on it.

Thanks for all your help though.

Another thing to consider.

Has the owner been working on the car for all previous service/maintenance issues or just this ONE time to do the turbo install?
