Default Newbie, buying used

Hello all! Having second or third mid-life crisis and coveting a CR. Found a high mileage one (80k miles) that I can afford, but I need to know what to look for when I check out the car. Clean CarFax, one owner car. The previous owner lives way out in the sticks so I believe it was a daily commuter or sales rep that covered a lot of territory (or raced in multiple Le Mans). What to look for to make sure I'm not buying a dog??

As a condition of the sale, take it to a Honda dealer and have them do a pre-purchase inspection. If you feel the need for an after-market warranty, you can get one from a Honda dealer, but you will need to apply for it and be approved. The best method I've found if you're not mechanically inclined, is to take a good Honda mechanic with you when you buy the car.

TC -- Thanks for the response and sound advice. This is an out of town buy so I hope I can arrange a dealer check up.
