Default OEM Radio

Hello S2Ki. I am a New S2000 owner. Its a 2004 Silverstone with Black interior at 24.6k miles. I will keep my two - seater stock all the way. I was a previous Honda motorcycle owner. After too many close calls decided it was time to move to four wheels.

My question deals with the OEM radio. My S2000 came with a Pioneer radio. It works ok and allows for Bluetooth. In keeping closer to ALL STOCK, I would like to go back to the OEM radio if I could find one reasonably. A Bluetooth external unit can be setup from numerous sources. Also, I would be able to use the dash controls for the radio which I prefer. Can you tell me your pros and cons of staying with the OEM radio? Please elaborate even if you think insignificant.

Further, can you recommend any sources to find an OEM radio for a 2004 S2000?

Does the Satellite radio work well?

Thanks

Herb

You can place a Want To Buy thread in the Marketplace. Not sure what the current values for the OEM radio in, or also the satellite radio, or CD changer if you are looking for that.
FYI, check with Modifry about the needed wiring for the Pioneer so that you can use the dash controls.

If you care about music and sound quality, keep the aftermarket stereo. The amps in the stock s2000 stereos are garbage. The change in sound quality when I put in my alpine (with just the stock speakers) was pretty amazing. Also, if you get the modifry DCI or Axxess ASWC-1 you can retain the dash controls. I went with the ASXC because it was only only $20 when I bought my alpine stereo through crutchfield.

When I began looking for my S this spring, I wanted it to be totally stock. The only exception being the stereo because I was pretty sure I'd be changing it anyway. I do prefer the OEM Honda radio look, however. Mine has a pioneer head unit, alpine amp and some kind of aftermarket speakers. Its pretty good now and from what everyone tells me I'm glad its been replaced.

Different model years have different radios. All should fit and most look alike but there are different part numbers. My 2006 is 39100-S2A-A90 and has the Sirius button on the face. Your 2004 is 39100-S2A-A91and may or may not have this button (I only know what mine looks like).

Try Ebay.
