Prospective buyer looking for advice
I am new here, looking to get into a S2000. I have been saving for a while to get my first sports car!
After test driving multiple cars multiple time, I am leaning towards the S2000.
Why: I don't want to spend alot more or a little less than $10K towards a used S2K, As I want to get the most spunk for that little money. Also I don't want to be bothered with alot of $$$$ maintenance as some of the European/American cars demand.
Now with that spending ceiling I have been looking all over and seeing I can easily achieve getting one from the 2000-2003, But the ones from 2004-Newer have higher miles.
What is the difference between the 2000-2003 VS the 2004-Newer?
AND
How much should I worry about getting one with higher miles?
I Currently have/had been driving a 02 Nissan Sentra GXE with a 5speed Tran with no mods for the past 4yrs. I had bought that used with only 12K miles and it now has 60K+ Miles and my experience has been A++ with it. Considering the fact I literally drove it every day as a sports car red lining it and trashing the brakes! After it taking all that beating it still holds up very well! and I only had to do very minimum maintainance on it. Though I personally changed the oil (Mobile One Full Synthetic) religiously every few thousand miles and tires as usual and had recently done the gear box hydrolic system due to all the miss shifts as it was my first manual and I learned how to drive a manual at the hydrolic gear box replacement price which took it a while to catch up to being have to be replaced.
I expect to have the same experience with the S2K. Will it hold up the same way and or better? As I plan on getting one as a daily driver.
Thank You all for reading and in advance for all your help!
And do excuse my writing capabilities and novice knowledge about the S2K.

For at or near $10k I would be concerned about what shape the ap2 would be in. If I had the choice between a 20k mile 03 and an 80k mile 04 for $13k, I would take the ap1.
There were a lot of good changes with the ap2 but not enough to be worth getting one that is beat.
BTW, you should always leave yourself some budget for the unexpected when buying used. While maint on the car is pretty cheap some this be like tires are not. And this car eats tires. Also on a higher mileage car, if the clutch was not done you need to budget about a grand for that.
