Prospective S2K buyer has a few questions!
I think when most people say they're hard to drive they man "at the limit". Meaning, if you take your car to the track, or an autocross it might be a handful if you're inexperienced with it. If it's just a street car and you don't drive it too hard you should be fine.
It's a very lightweight car with rear-wheel drive. That doesn't make it 'hard' to drive, but it does add some hazard, especially if you're not familiar with rear-wheel handling (I'm 37 and have never owned a front-wheel-drive).
I leave it parked if snow is forcast. I drive very conservatively in wet conditions. And I don't drive like I'm on a racetrack. As a result, I've had no problems whatsoever.
Financially, I think you're in very good shape. Still, if you're concerned about your future job security or expect your circumstances to change (buying a home, getting married, etc.) I recommend saving for a significant down payment and buying used.
Good Luck!

What are some things that you RWD vets would like to bestow upon a FWD bum like me?
electric,
The only advice I want to bestow is this: practice! And, by that, I mean practice on empty roads with big runoff shoulders! If you have an opportunity to take a high-performance driving class, jump on it. And, depending on your local s2ki region, talk to those guys about auto-x or track days. I have NEVER had more fun in my car than track/auto-x when pushing it to the limit in a safe environment. I haven't done it much, but the times I have have been memorable and instructional.

@Electrichinck,
I own an S2000 i norway, and we have where i live many days that is rainy. The S can be tricky in the rain if you have worn rear tyres. It would go out in a spin when you hit the Vtec. You should just take your S out on a open parking lot when i rains. and just try. throttle to vtec turn the wheel and drift. you learn alot how the car acts and what you should'nt do on roads daily. and for track using. Here where i live we don't have large tracks, but we usually take it out on a slighly large gocart track. where no cars like Bmw e46 m3, toyota mr2 350rwhp, Subaru impreza can keep up with the S. it's simply amazing considering it 'only' has 240hp, ~180whp(?) Very easy and fun ride. I hope you guys understand my poor english
