question
well i'm new here, i use to own an MR2T but sold that and got an S2000 and i love it. but i'm not sure whee to post this, but what is a TSB i know what it stands for but is it like a recall...what good does it do, can i go to the dealership and have them do things to the car for free....? thanks for your help!
Usually they will do TSB's for free during the warranty period. If is is a safety issue they might do one outside of warranty. A TSB is like a recall but does not require the manufacturer to actually perform the service- or notify the owner of the vehichle. They may only do the TSB if the customer complains about a particular defect(like top rattles). VW is very big on TSB's and your car has to do just what the TSB says for them to perform the TSB on your car.
Stands for technical service bulletin. Chick's explanation is exactly right.
TSBs for the USDM are issued by American Honda, and even if the engineering is done in Japan, it's up to AHM to decide what goes to the dealers in terms of TSBs. Some factory fixes don't make it to TSBs if AHM doesn't feel it's warranted.
