Richmond VA new owner
Hi everyone,
Yesterday we bought a 2002 Suzuka Blue S2000 with 103k. Up until about 2 months ago my daily driver was a 2015 Mustang GT Premium which was pretty sweet, but expensive, and my son is now too big to fit in the back anymore. So I unloaded it, got a 2012 Mazda3 as a daily driver, and started looking for a fun 3rd car that wouldn't be overly expensive. My wife (who likes old trucks and sporty cars - her current car is a 2010 Mini) and I have been talking about getting a roadster for some time, and while she's partial to the Jag F-type that's perhaps a *tad* expensive : . I've always wanted an S2000, so here we are. My favorite car I've ever owned was my 2002 Acura RSX Type S, which I bought new and put 205k on before letting go of it. To this day I miss that car - I am partly refilling the VTEC-shaped hole in my heart with the S2000
I drove it 150 miles in my first day of ownership, and my first impression is that it's stiff, loud, twitchy, a bit cramped, and brash if not harsh. In other words, perfect! And yesterday was perfect convertible weather. I haven't really pushed it or anything but it didn't seem as tail happy as I'd heard. This could be because I am coming off the Mustang in which you could break the tail loose at will, traction control or not, or because I learned to drive in rear wheel drive cars without traction control in New England winters. Either way I plan to respect this car though.
I already got some good info browsing this forum before the purchase - it seems like a great resource! I did some of the things this site said to do before buying the car....

Congrats on the purchase. I was just saying to a buddy that I haven’t seen many running around the Richmond area lately. I’ve got an ‘01 NFR with 172k that I’ve had since I rolled it off the showroom floor in 2001. I have just had it repainted and replaced the seats. Hope to see you around, I’m out in the Midlothian area.
