I know what you mean. I've got a Target Across the street, but there's a walmart 3 miles down the road. The Target is closer and the lines are shorter - I'll spend that extra $2.50 and put the hour I saved somewhere else. Good luck - You should have more info than any dealer would allow by now...

Here's the numbers for my hopefully-soon-to-arrive '06, right off the sales sheet:

car cost + dest fee: $30,265

tags, license fee: $56.00

misc fees: $392.95 ($298.00 for "dealer services" + $94.95 for "electronic filing fee")

tax: $907.95

total otd: $31,621.90

If anyone's interested, I got this deal by using the Fighting Chance (Google for it if interested -- I'm just an extremely satisfied customer) "fax attack" method. I didn't set foot in a dealer's showroom, didn't try to dicker with them or anything. I basically contacted 22 dealers; of them, 9 came back with at least somewhat sane answers, and this ended up being by far the lowest price I was offered.

Now if the dang thing would just get here (It arrived in port January 31st) I'd be a whole lot happier (and could update my profile to "owner" status!

so here I am again

2004 S2K 20k miles, one minor accident that was claimed to be in a parking lot (this is through a dealer). Audio upgrades, head unit, speakers, amp. yellow too . They're asking/demanding 23,750 roughly for all fees and no taxes.. Personally I think it's a little too high, but they're saying they need to get that. I'm going to throw one more offer at them and I'd like to know what people would suggest. A permanent number that wouldn't be an insult and they would likely accept. They say the condition of the car is mint/basically perfection. What should I offer, what price would you be like 'hey man you got a really sweet deal'? thanks

A 2004 with 20K miles? That's certainly not low miles, so I'm thinking 22K. That'd be a good deal, I think. Buying through a dealer, though... If you can get it for 23K, I suppose that'd be reasonable.

Thanks Chazmo,

and way I see it for a 2004, anywhere between 10k-20k miles is good mileage to me, I don't see it being that much of a different, and if whether it has 11k or 19k, I don't consider one particularly better than the other for that reason alone. either mileage would be an appropriate one for a 2 year old model. Ones lower than 10k have a tendency to be owned and have inflated values (read some people asking essentially 06 retail values)
