Victor, you might want to start a thread on how one goes about buying a used S when a loan is involved. I don't have any advice to offer on that front, as I agree that most owners will want the money up front (or in escrow) before shipping a car to you.

Perhaps your best bet is to find a local used car dealer who can seek out the car for you. There are a number of folks I know who work with high-end dealers for this kind of thing (looking for used Ferraris, Porsches, etc.). We've got a guy in New Hampshire that I'd recommend, but I don't think that helps you in Biloxi.

I have three honda dealerships on "look out" for a used S2000 there is one here but it is to much for what it is. I would be able to pay say $5000 in a deposit. I think it is nice. and spot him/her like $400 plus gas plus plane ticket sounds like a good deal to me.

the hardest thing will be finding a local S2000 or finding someone willing to drive the S2000 to me since someone will have to sign the loan papers...most sellers would see this as to much to sell a car...even when offered money and a plane ticket home....
I think you should have all the paperwork done ahead of time...the faxing of titles etc can be done, and you go get the car and drive it home. I for one wouldn't drive, God knows how many miles, to deliver a car to someone, then by chance have them change their mind at the last minute and not buy the car.

that is why i do the up front deposit. I have done this once before. And to my knowledge the only way i can do the loan without the person there is if they have the car payed off...but i am not sure.

I recently bought my s2000 from a dealer in another state, several hundred miles away. I found it on autotrader, called, asked for their best price over the phone. (Negotiations are easier this way, because I look much younger than I really am, and have trouble finding salespeople who will take me seriously). I went through eloan to finance it, got a really good rate, and they sent me a "powercheck" which you sign over to the person/dealer you're buying from. A very easy process. I had a friend drive me to the dealer, inspected the car, and signed over the check... drove away that night. The dealer FedExed me the title when the check was funded. It was a really easy process.
