Default S2000 vs. Impreza RS

hello again, so i did not get into the nursing program this semester like i hoped. i am down to 2 cars to replace my CRX. my limit is pretty much $9K, 10K if the s2000 is amazing and blows me away. options are either 2000-2001 Subaru Impreza RS or a 2000-2003 S2000. i can get a nice impreza or 8000. fun to drive and handling are the top things i look for in a car. insurance is $300 a year cheaper for the impreza. out of the box, the impreza has less chassis rigidity and understeers. swaybars can address the understeer though. i live in modesto, in the top 5 for stolen cars. the impreza appears to be the safer buy, but the s2000 is really nice car. in my price range for the s2000, i am basically looking at high mileage, or beat on cars. am i setting myself up for disaster? there is one specifically i am really interested in is selling for 8900 with 181K miles (listed on this site). a couple coworkers suggest the s2000 (women in medical field) saying that i only am young once. any and all insightful replies are greatly appreciated. i used the search here already without much luck for similar threads.

impreza i am considering

I just got my 02 with 67k for $9900 so ya pass on something with that high on miles. Just keep searching. On the subbie, my friend got one with 80k and it had the rare leather recaro interior. The car is amazing and I love it, but then again he paid $6300 which I think is a fair price.

true, but those are the 2 cars i am considering. im trying to find a 2002 s2000 so that the clutch buzz is not a factor and also the switch to the glass soft top. found one in portland but dont know if exposed to snow, elements. i still keep coming back to the impreza though, not sure why. anyone else with suggestions?

Sounds like you want the RS. Test drive them both. Even if its not the one in your price range. At least you'll know for sure which one you want to buy. Test drives are free. But if you just want peoples opinions. I own both an S2000 and an Impreza RS. These are two compleatly different driving cars. Its like comparing a Go-Kart to a Four-Wheeler. I love both of them. Thats why you should Test drive them both.
