S2000 vs. Impreza RS
If that RS does not have a swap, it seems to be a little expensive. I've owned a few subarus in my life (still have one incomplete project) and now the s2000. The subaru is pretty practical and comfortable (if you tend to not baby your car or not maintain is as much). The s2000 is nice, but can become uncomfortable through day to day driving(for some). The AWD does help with rainy and snowy weather.
It comes down to preference as both cars are targetting different markets. Pro's and cons I can think of off the top of my head:
S2000
Pros:
Better looking (preference)
Better handling (stock)
Better Gas mileage
Nice engine and drivetrain
Cons:
Higher vandalism rate (assuming from things I've read)
lower ground clearance
Controlability in low-grip weather conditions
Small carrying capacity (occupants and luggage)
RS:
Pros:
Roomy
Good multi-weather handling
carrying capacity
Upgradability with mods (interchangability with most sti models)
Cons:
Slow, but torquey
Cheaper=feeling than the s2000
Chassis rigidy(can be addressed with bracing, though)
Poor gas mileage (awd sucks for gas mileage)
Less choice for reputable tuners/repair shops
What I can think of off the top of my head. Hope this helps
If you do end up buying a subaru, i have a full jdm v8 sti swap ready:P
For around that price you're expecting to pay, you can even get a wrx unless you're totally content on the RS body styling
