The '00 model year is quite a bit cheaper to insure due to its symbol being lower than other years. I haven't checked lately, but a couple years ago, '00 was symbol 19(still is), '01 was 21, and '02 and newer was 23.

How did that work out. My 96 240 is worlds lower in insurance than my s2000. I pay 197 a month for both of them. I am 22/unmarried with only one violation on my record. Did you have your engine and mods listed in your insurance or something because I am at a loss.
yeah, i had some "modification" protection or something like that for the 240

I'm not yet an s2000 owner, but these are the quotes that i've received so far:

20 years old, 1 accident (not my fault) and 3 speeding tickets in the last year and a half.

Winship - $300 / Month
Geico - $231.52 / Month (w/ Good Student Discount)
Progressive - $387.08 / Month (w/ Good Student Discount)

Looks like i'm going to be taking it in the ass from the insurance companies. I may not be buying an s2000 until i'm older.

Did you do online quotes? I found them to be highly unreliable and overpriced. Getting an actual quote from an agent works better price-wise.

i went from 220 to 260 a month (including an 04 VW GLI) i'm 21 and hubby is 23 with an at fault accident..
traded my 03 GTI VR6 for an 06 S2000..
also had to take the short rate off since my hubby enjoys stealing my car now! so it's really not too bad..! plus i have new car protection that would replace it with the latest model if it got totalled.. can't beat that!

i work for an insurance company and as was said before-- web quotes are bs! there's way too many factors that come into play so you're best bet is to definately call around..

Winship is the company that I have my current car insurance with and I spoke with someone in the office for that quote. Geico & Progressive were online quotes so you may be right about them being overpriced (let us hope so). I'll call around tomorrow and get actual quotes and let you know what I come up with.

When comparing insurance be aware of the COVERAGE difference ! not all insurances are alike.

As mention before age, traffic record and location will impact the price of the insurance.

I have 100/300/100 coverage and I pay 420 a year but I also have five vehicles under my policy
