Are S2000's expensive to insure?
Also, credit history plays a bigger part now than it has in the past.
I just did a quote online with State Farm for my 2003 that I'm purchasing today, and it will be $130 - $135/month for it. Currently I have a 2004 Evo that I pay $205 for. No accidents, no tickets, [knock on wood]...

So I just got a quote over the phone from Geico.... I'm 20 years old, 3 speeding tickets & 1 accident..... Geico quoted me $275.25 per month for full coverage on a 2004 chevy cavalier & a 2001 honda s2000. This is including the multiple car "discount" and also a good student discount.
I called my insurance agent about 3 weeks ago for a quote on the S: 2005, new. Turned out to be around $80/month, which is about $30 more than I am paying for my 2005 Jetta GLI now.
I am 28, married, male. 1 speeding ticket last summer that didn't show up on my driving record (probably becuz it's in VA?). I live in DC suburbs in MD.
Liability & Comprehensive at 100k/300k with $1000 deductible.

Like housing prices, insurance is all about location, location, location.

The sad part about that is that your premium is within a couple hundred bucks of what I pay for a 1998 Camry and a 2003 S2000. Unlike you, I'm 39 and have a spotless driving record for about 20 years.

My friend used to have a ford ranger and when his dad bought a viper (for himself) his friends insurance went to $12,000 a YEAR! They have the money so it's not a problem for them, but the kid only drove his dad's car once down the road and he still had to pay $1,000 a month just to keep it in the garage.
(btw, if you don't believe me, call and get a quote for an 18 year old in a dodge viper)
