The S2K bug bit me
Well after lurking around this message board for the past few nights I decided to register and post up! To start off my name is Brian, I'm 23 and live in New Jersey. Personally have always been a big fan of s2000's, but I never really did much research about them until this past week. I miss RWD cars, drove an '87 325i in HS. For the past 5 years I have been a subaru guy, I first had a 01' 2.5RS, did the suspension on that car and put on some falken azenis tires, and that thing was a blast to drive! It was like a go kart. Unfortunatly it met it's demise in '05 when a drunk driver decided to occupy the same space as me in an intersection. It was soon replaced with a brand new '05 WRX sportwagon. Wagon is bone stock, only mod is a trailer hitch so I can tow my bike around to races (trackday/roadracing 4 yrs). Presently I am getting kinda bored with the wagon, looking for something fun to drive again. Plus it didn't help that last weekend I was down in summit point last weekend for my first race of the season and rode in a friend's track prepped cobra on the Summit Point Shenandoah circuit the previous day and thought damn, I gotta try out a car on the track - this is fun!
Anyways I am looking for something reliable, good gas mileage, fun to drive, 6 speed, rwd, capable in stock form, maybe do a few trackdays in it per year. So far the s2k fits the bill, like most choices I like to look at both sides and find a reason not to get one, but having a hard time doing it haha!
Prob going to put the wagon up for sale this weekend! Figure I can pull around 18k for the car, my budget is 21k for a s2000, from what I gathered I am looking at the ap1 02-03 models, I like the updates and they fit in my price range. It will be an all season daily driver.

I also came from a WRX before my 1st S2000 (a 2003 sedan with ECUTEK) and the first thing I noticed was the transmission feel on the S.
The WRX has one of the worst transmissions ever and the S2000 is the best IMHO.
Plus the truck like steering of the WRX compared to the razor-sharp turn in of the Honda: you'll love the S2000!

I also came from a WRX, a bugeye. I grew tired of that lack of civility and the HUGE steering wheel. I thought i'd miss the AWD, but my 06 leaves me wondering why i waited so long to trade up.
My biggest concern is where to go next? What do you get after an S2000? I guess an Elise...

Ahh.. the s2k bug, eh?
There's no cure for that other than buying one. hehe
I've suffered a good one year before getting my finances together.
I used to own a 2004 WRX myself and don't even think about comparing it to the S.
Good luck shopping around!

Mine's for sale for 18,000 and it's supercharged! It's an 01, but has an upgraded top with a glass rear window (you said you liked the 02-03 upgrades, well that's the major difference). It's just like stock until you start to rev it up to +6000rpms, and then it unleashes the fury
