Should I buy?
ok guys... the 350z payment ansd insurance are costing me a lil over $700 a month.. the total for a used s2k can keep me way under $500. I've been looking into the s2k
I'll be honest.. i grew up in the car world HATING honda, the drivers, the cars, everything about it..
i hated the ricer scene and how it always seemed to coincide with a honda.. the torque numbers on the engines are quite ridiculous to me...
I was always a big Toyota guy.. having a couple of MR2 turbos and a wimpy 6gen Celica when i was younger...
I like the look of the s2000, the front, the rear, the fact that i can drop the top..
but its sooo little from the sides though..
the interior design is subpar... looks like an early 90's car..
the drive wasn't all that impressive.. of course i had a salesman breathing down my neck.. only hit vtec once.... the handling was amazing.. the shifting reminded me of the mr2 turbo's.. very similar!!!
whyhasnt honda improved their vtec design?? nissan's valve timing system advances and retards timing to add torque and horsepower...
I'm not sure what to do.. i wish the experience would have convinced me to get it...
id love for it to be a great project car for me.. the aftermarket scene is amazing for these cars... any suggestions??
i love ym z, the feel, the power, the looks, and the size of the body...
i love the heated seats, the powr seats.. the electronic gauges.... it's killing me even thinking about it...
i might get flamed for this... i'm not here to trash the s2k.. i'm just looking for some good advice about the car because i'm not too knowledgeable about the model... any help is appreciated...
any suggestions on whatt o tes,t how to drive it... or what might impress me about it?? please convince me!!!

The Z and the S2000 are about equally as fast in a straight line...sounds to me like you need to learn to use the revs instead of relying on torque like in your Z (I came from an LT1 Z28 torque monster, so I had to do the same thing).
But I agree, the S2000 isnt for everyone

I traded in my G35 sedan for my S. You are right the S interior might look dated because the design of this car is back from the late 90's but it is pretty well made. Eventhough i miss the power of my G35, I can't put that stupid smile away everytime I drive my S2000.

The S2K and the Z have very similar performance numbers on paper. You will have to learn to drive it in a higher power band though.
I would suggest finding someone you know that has one, or finding a salesman that actually wants to sell a car. If you drive it the way you would want to if you owned it and you still are not impressed, it is not the car for you.
Another suggestion might be to look into a used Infiniti G35 (Z platform), a Subaru WRX STi, or an Mitsubishi Evo. The latter 2 can be picked up used for a decent price and should provide the "getty up" you are looking for.

I strongly urge you NOT to get an S2000.
How about a 2000 Porsche Boxster S? Or maybe an M Z3 roadster. You can find some for around 19-21k

IMO both cars are abominations to the fine name they represent. Maybe that is just me.
