thanks to all you guys for those info.
in fact I have registered for HPRE event memorial week end and will see after that.
To be honest with all of you my son is the one pushing me to buy a S2K.
So far I am more going toward a Miata.

But again no decision has been made
Stripping the vette to 2700lbs?? not sure
Stripping my Evo? this one I am 99% sure no
Buying a rear wheel drive light car and modify it? 70% chance.

As far as the mods you are talking they do not concern me.
On the vette I did the work myself and all engine parts has been replaced, from piston to oil pump, timing chain, heads, headers, drive pulley, clucth, flywheel, cam shaft. The block is the only part I kept.
I know that if I want 320Hp (260RWHP) I will need quite alot of mods.
As far as reliability it won't be a street car. I will build an engine for 2 to 3000 miles of hard driving

Miata would be a good choice for you also, but I prefer the S2000, I just think it's a better platform but I'm biased lol

well let me introduce myself.

I am looking to build a race car and the S2000 is may be an option
Before buying I would like to know from the one that have one and upgrade it.

1st I want a light car.
how much weight a S2000 when you have remove everything you can. Carpet, dash board, AC, glove box, door panels, catback, etcc.
Just keeping what you need to race it.
A roll cage will be added

2nd Power
How much horse power can you expect staying safe. a race cession is 30 mn.
so for 30mn the engine will be under load. It is not pulling only 10 secondes here
An intake and exhaust will be installed and ECU

3rd brakes.
Are the stock brakes enough. if not how easy is it to install brembo 4 pistons caliper

4th.How much cost a limited slip differential

5th Is it to chnage the ratio of the rear end

For the suspension I think I am going to find whatever is required easily. sway bar shocks, spring
Power: If you're going to stay NA, don't expect much. The bigger benefit of adding intake/exhaust/header is the weight reduction; between the three you can lose 60-90 lbs depending on your part choice. If you want real power, you'll need FI. It will be just fine under extended heavy load sessions with the right tune and proper cooling. The internals are for the most part forged from the factory.

Brakes: Stock is fine with fresh fluid and good pads, if you stay NA. Once you go FI, you may want to look into a BBK. This is a point of heavy debate. Remember, this IS still a relatively light car.

LSD: It comes stock with a Torsen. Upgrades can vary from 1500 on up.

Final Drive: Do you want it taller or shorter?

Suspension: Subjective, get what suits your preferences

Not mentioned, but Aero: S2k's get a bit scary at speed; aero will help lots, but you already know that

What year the S2K went from 2 to 2.4l

I will definitely go wit bigger brakes as I would like to go with wider tires if possible.

As far as the aero this is a good point. I did not know that but as you saying that I remember seeing S2K with rear spoiler.
Do not have this problem with the vette even at 180 and over

BTW there is no 2010 S2K Honda is not making them anymore???

If you are 6"4" you probably won't fit in an S2000.

US spec S2000s went from 2.0 to 2.2 in 2004. 2009 was the last year the car was produced.

Yes you must buy S2000 because this car has a best performance record and a great feed back.
