Default Space in the S

Hi everyone,

I'm in the market for a new car at the moment and with several options on the kitchen table, so to speak.

I'm drawn to the S2000, it's a car I've admired from afar for a long time. One thing i'm worried about is the switch from front wheel drive to rear wheel drive. I've never had a car that was driven from behind before and curious to know how hard it is to adapt. A more exciting drive is what i'm looking for and I expect the S2000 would be just that.

Just wondering what some owners' thoughts are on the amount of space in the S2000 - am I wrong in thinking it's a little cramped in there, especially for example if two people are going to be in there for a long time?

Obviously there are other considerations, but my gf doesn't like to feel cramped in the car (she did in her old Boxster), and whilst I'd love to go for an S it won't work out if the interior is just too tight.

Any thoughts much appreciated

might be too tight for her if she felt cramped in the boxster.

It is tighter than a Boxster, I dont think your gf will like it from what you are saying. A bit uncomfortable on drives exceeding about 150 miles. I prefer rear drive cars to front drive cars. I think you have better control but that is my opinion. Good luck, if you want more room opt for the G35, if you want more fun, go for the S2000.

The space in the passenger seat is more than enough. Compared to the boxster, the s2000 feels a lot bigger.

Shortly after I got the break-in miles on my new S last summer, my wife and I (we're both in our 50s) packed overnight bags and a couple of computers and drove the S from Santa Fe to here in Boca Raton (FL), ~2200 miles averaging more than 700 per day.

Naturally, we were more "cramped" than we would have been in, say, an Expedition. But all-in-all it was great, the perfect cross-country drive for both of us. HPH

I also felt cramped in a boxter when I test drove one, but I can drive most of a day in my 2003 s2k with no problem. Ask your girlfriend if she can remember exactly what made her feel cramped. For me it was the boxter's narrow footwell and apart from that it was OK. I don't get that feeling from the S2000 at all.

How tall is your gf? My better half doesn't like the fact that there is a "bump" on the floor. Her first reaction when she got in was "ugghh, what's this?" I explained that it was part of the X-frame blah blah blah but the fact of the matter is, that "bump" on the passenger floor is pretty annoying, especially if your feet rest there naturally!

My advice is to go do a "test sit".

I find the car to be comfortable, but there's no storage space, particularly when a passenger is on board.

The seats themselves are wonderful, except they lack some lower back support which is easily solved with a small pillow or towel.
