Z? What is that?

I don't have any room to talk as I'm still looking for my S2000 but I've driven one a few of the various years and I love everything about the car. Perhaps I wasn't in it long enough to find the problems, but I love the lines, the seats fit me like a glove, the exhaust note when v-tech kicks in (and the quiet when just tooling around town), looks good with top up and better with it down, and I even love the guages (although I've heard it can be hard to see if the sun is just in the right spot)...

so I say again, what is a Z?
V-tech? What's that?

I heard that those are really nice phones. But what's that gotta do with an s2k or 350z?

It's "Vtec" my man.

Im having a dilema right now i really need to hear it from yall what are the pro's and cons of the s2k and what makes it better then the Z other then i dont see them very often.
I've driven both cars, and I agree with everyone who said drive them both. The Z and the S have very different driving characteristics, and you should be able to tell which one you like better on your own (and if you can't, can I interest you in a Camry or an Accord?). You're the one that has to drive the car, not anyone else here on the internet, right? Besides, it's always fun to drive sports cars, right? That's my point, they are for driving above all else. Pick the car you think is most fun to drive and you won't be sorry; otherwise, buy a sedan. I took nine different sports cars for test drives last year before buying my S, it was a blast! Have fun, and good luck!

If you have to ask, then go with the Z. You definitely consider amenities more important. Not a bad thing either. It is a win either way.

I feel kinda bad for the guy that made the original posts in both forums. He probably should have asked some more specific questions about each car if he was looking for some valuable advice. But with such a general question, it's hard to help him out.

What I do know about the s2K since my girlfriend has one...First off, very small inside and it can be a pain in the ass getting in or out. I'm 6' tall and 170 lbs, and it still sucks getting in and out of the car. Second, I can't really say I care for the engine noise. While driving, it has this annoying sound like it wants to change gears again and there's nothing left. It does have a very wide rpm band, and just sounds like it's always working too hard. Whereas you can cruise the highway in 6th at around 2500rpm in the Z and it's a nice quiet comfy ride, the S2K just seems to be going along at like 4000 rpm with it's little whine from the engine. On the plus side, it does have a 9000 red line. With the top up, the S2K is a little noisy at high speeds. The top goes down nice and quick, though. What's next, let's see...it is kinda cool with the engine start button on the left side of the steering console. Kinda has that LeMans feel to it. Otherwise, all the controls are around the steering console, leaving the rest of the interior a little bland. My girlfriend has the stock radio in the car, since most of the controls are on the left side of the steering console and she's afraid she won't be able to use them if she changes the radio. The S2K does have nice short shifts. As far as the front end, you'll be going slow and angled up any driveways or big bumps unless you want to hear a nice scraping sound! I know the Z doesn't have the most storage space, since luggage size is limited due to the strut bar in the hatch, but the S2K has even less. Trunk is small and interior compartments are fewer and smaller...unless you're my girlfriend that can somehow jam several pairs of sunglasses in the center console space. If you've got long legs, don't plan on pushing the seat back too much...not going to happen. It's definitely a fun car to drive, but I'm partial to my Z.

Like everyone says, you've gotta test drive both of them and see for yourself. Go on what you think and want and not what others are going to tell you...this after I just wrote a book on the S2K. If you want a great car with hot styling, killer torque and exhaust note, comfort, and options, go for the Z. If you want something smaller, not as comfortable, but is quick, fun, and still a head-turner occassionally, go for the S2K. You know where we all stand on here...remember, it's my350z.com.

not hating on this post, BUT we have more than one center console atleats i have two.....also, I love the sound an S makes espically VTEC with top down, wth is this dude talkn about. and yea i do cruise down the highway at 4k rpms, but i also go up to 9k!!!! and as far as stock radio controls with an aftermarket headunit, cost 100$ or less for the kit to maintian those controls
