Why would you buy a boxter if it was not an S model? The base model is a waste of money, escpecially compared to an S2. You know why the used prices are so close even though the price of both cars new is so far apart is because the S2000 is the better car and holds its value better.
Can't agree with you on that one. I just turned my base 2002 Boxster in. The 2.7l engine is strong enough for almost any driving situation - in the USA anyway. Amazing handling. that is the main difference I have noted in my short time with my S2K. It handles well but does not have the unflappable solidity of the Boxster even though the cars weigh the same. The Porsche gives you amazing stick and still manages to handle frost heaves and pot holes with aplomb(the S2K is a bit jittery in comparison). That is what the extra money buys you, as well as the rock solid door closure and two trunks.

Can't agree with you on that one... 2.7 always seemed and feeled a little underpowered for the Porsche badge imo and I had a few times I nearly went of the road in 'normal' spirited driving conditions with the Boxster where ESP saved me where I never felt the slightest twitch with the S. But that's just my opinion.

I don't know if I'll ever buy another Honda, but I chose the S over a Boxster (or any German car) due to initial cost, reliability, and maintain costs - also I just got tired of owning German cars and wanted something different.

The S2000 just fits the bill better and feels lighter on its feet. The only car I'd trade the S in for swould be a Boxster though - nothing else comes close. After optioning a Boxster with some basic stuff I was well north of 40k, so the one-size-fits-all S2000 was the preferred choice. Then I drove one, and it won my heart.

Porsche Boxsters are lemons I tell ya!

Not only that, they're overpriced and I honestly like the way the S looks much better. Another reason is because I'm used to cars with engines in the front. My uncle has a Volkswagen Karman-Ghia, and although that's an older car, working on that engine was like learning everything all over again. I would go with the S even if they both costed the same.

Huh? Lemons? What are you talking about? I had a Boxster for 4 yrs and had almost no issues with it. There is the notorious Rear Main Seal issue, but that is just a luck of the draw type of thing. Mine never had it. Most people that say " I would go with the S even if they both costed the same" say that because they don't have the money to spend...

The 2.7l is underpowered? The 2.7 Boxster weighs the same as an S2K and even the first year 2.7l had 217hp and 192ft/lbs torque. The 2007 version has 245hp and 201ft/lbs(at 4600-6000 rpms). Maybe the 2.5 liter was a little weak, but the 2.7 liter solved that. The thing most people don't understand is the Boxster is not a dragstrip car(much like the S2K). It shines in the curves and in its braking system. It also wins almost every comparison test it competes in due to its "complete package". There just isn't anything out there that can compare to the total package the Boxster has. The S2K is the closest IMO, but it isn't quite there(and shouldn't be considering the cost difference). That is why I drive an S2K now instead of a Boxster. I tried to lease a 2006 Boxster, but couldn't get to the payment I had on my 2002 Boxster so I walked. It all comes down to what you are willing to pay.

As an aside, I looked seriously at the Z350 Roadster before deciding on the S2K. The Nissan folks wanted about the same amount as a Boxster would have cost. When I told them it made no sense as the Z350R cost only a couple of thousand more than a S2K- they said - the Z350 is not really a competitor to the 4-cyl S2K, we consider it a Boxster competitor... Lets see- the S2K and Boxster weigh the same and have about the same hp. The Z350R weighs an extra 700lbs. Yes, the 350Z is a natural competitor to the Boxster

I must agree there- the S2K is less dated than the 350z for sure. The Miata also has a more universal look(at least the first and second generations)

If I were to buy a Boxster I would just wish I had a Cayman, if I bought I Cayman, I would just wish I had a 911. If I bought a 911, I would wish I could get a 911 GT3. I will just wait until I can afford the GT3.
