True.

You can always pick up a set of ap2 wheels.

Yes, but you cannot get a 17" with the AP1 five-spoke styling. IMHO, these are the best looking OEM wheels. Functional and elegantly simple in design.

Honestly ... I think you'll be happy with either one.

I'm not sure how picky of a person you are. If you aren't super picky about the specific characteristics, then either of them would serve your purpose of purchasing an S2000. Bottom line: both are S2000s.

I picked the AP2 because:

- that's the current model (and I wanted a new car, not pre-owned)
- I like the AP2 bumpers, headlights, and taillights more
- I like the AP2's refinements (i.e. stiffer chassis, wider tires, etc.) a little more
- Didn't mind the lower redline

AP2 has the same power with better usable low range torque. Who cares about the higher redline if it doesnt make the car faster? I shopped all years and the 06 had leather that was of a better grain for durablility. Plus several other upgrades already mentioned. That was just the icing on the cake. I bought new so i was not worried about someone missing a shift or lanching the car a 100 times.

Here is an article about 04- up improvements.. then add to that the 06 and up improvements.
