I've found serveral heads for under $400. Since my friend can do the swap for free, Wouldn't it be cheaper to swap a solid used on and call it a day? Rebuilding the head seems like a load of labor $$.

Maybe not. It really depends on the damage. So long as it didnt bend the valves back into the head and all you have to do is replace a few valves then its much cheaper to buy valves. From Honda the intakes are $15 a piece and the exhaust valves are $25 a piece. That's from Honda. Last time I checked 160$(that's if you even needed 4 of each) is a lot less than $400. Should take less than 20 min to change the valves once the head is off. As some one else said I wouldn't buy anything until I had the head off and knew exactly what needed to be replaced. Don't forget you'll need a new head gasket either way those aren't cheap either. Ive seen people reuse the Honda MLS head gasket and not have problems but I wouldn't recommend it unless you literally have no other option.

EDIT: There is actually a guy on craigslist selling a full head for 300$ in JAX right now.

I sent the guy on craigslist a text. Since the one he is selling has ap2 retainers already installed I'm going to hop on it. The head does not come assembled though, and my mechanic has backed out. Any of y'all want to do the job for some quick $$?

It would be cheaper to build your head back pending the damage. We get Oem Honda parts as well as aftermarket.

What do you mean the head does not come assembled? If the ap2 retainers are installed, that would mean the head was assembled.
I can do the work.

Yeah I'm not quite sure what he means his ad is very misleading.. He says he has one complete head with ap2 retainers it just needs assembling. I sent you a pm dc2. I have a garage NFRTurbo.
