I think you have a few things wrong here with this statement and it just goes to show every single person reading this that "hearsay" is a very bad thing. If I could make a suggestion and that if noone knows all the FACTS to something, they should find out the details and FACTS before they go talking about it. It's just common respect.
Now I think your talking about a 2007 S2K we Turbo'ed back in 2007. There was never a 2005 S2K here..... guaranteed. Now that being said at the time when we turboed this car there wasn't nothing out yet (not even greddy or AEM) to use as engine management. We finally decided to try a A/F controller (Apexi) which we had to make our own wiring diagram for for it to function. With the help of Apexi and the staff here at VT we got it to work. Since we have put an E-Manage Ultimate in and works like a charm, but that was finally when the technology was out and we were able to make the changes.
FYI this car never "blew up." If you would like to know the entire history of it I know the OWNER of the car and I could sit down with you and tell you everything you want to know if it means that much to you. I mean your talking about someone elses car right. Might as well get all the facts about it and get it right so when you go on public forums you have the story behind it 100%.
We are currently "building" his motor now (2007 S2K). Block is getting sleeved, pistons, rods, and so on. More power, more boost.
Now as far as us arguing with you or anyone, thats a tad bit over blown don't you think? Why would we argue with someone first of all? Why would we argue with anyone that clearly doesn't know more than we do, (because if anyone did know more we would listen and ask questions rather than argue). We get alot of people that come in that do know what they are talking about and then we get quite a few that think they know what they are talking about. We 100% of the time can see the difference in the ones that do know and don't know. We listen alike either way because we don't be-little anyone no matter what they do or don't know.
Now as far at the "2007" S2K we put the neo on we maintained the boost at a low level to keep it safe so that it could be daily driven and not have problems. Until some sort of engine managmnet was released for the car. We have an in house dyno and the car was tuned with the NEO at a safe boost level. So aside from what some are thinking, I would appreciate it if you would just call and ask us about other people cars if you really need to know and we will tell you what we do and how we work. You are also welcome to stop by anytime and check us out. You can request a shop tour as well with a heads up call. Thats all it takes.
We have never had a civic fall off our dyno, as a matter of fact we have never had a car fall off our dyno here ever. We have had a prelude though brake one of the straps in the middle of a run and "SHIFT" over to the side as well as one civic that shifted over to its side. In those cases the car broke the strap. Not because the straps weren't tight. Those are the only 2 incidents we have had in 4 years of having the dyno and we dyno or tune about 30-40 cars a month here.
I think noah already talked about your hanger above.
I do appreciate the feedback, but please when speaking about "FRIENDS" and "FRIENDS CARS" or cars you know nothing about please could you just state facts. We would really appreciate that. Thanks
As far as the "argument" over the NEO goes, to straighten it out, I was saying that there was a shop in New England that was running a few drive-by-wire turbo'd S2ks on GReddy Emanage Ultimates w/o problems once GReddy came out with the software update so that it wouldn't fry the coils. The problem is that GReddy didn't tell anybody the nuts and bolts of what the software update did for like 6 months after they released it, so unless you tried it firsthand there was really no way to know. So, I was saying this to try to let him know that the Emanage Ultimate would've worked at the time, even though GReddy didn't authorize it yet for drive-by-wire S2ks, b/c the software update worked even though GReddy USA didn't really know what it did at the time. Brian was saying that it wouldn't work, and that's why you guys were custom-wiring a NEO in there ... it wasn't an "argument" like we were yelling at each other or anything, it was just a civil "argument" about what was going on with the E-manage Ultimate ... you can call it a civil discussion if you like. Sorry if I made it sound like we were about to throw punches or something ... it was like a normal discussion, just back and forth over whether it would've worked at the time, which went into whether it was safer to run the E-manage Ultimate or the NEO.
Like I said two or three times earlier in this thread, I didn't have a problem with the shop at all, I just had a problem with a couple things that Brian did to my car while it was there (one of which apparently was a miscommunication). I specifically stated that, after the dyno thing, you knocked the price down, and that you were cool and knew what you were talking about. For the record, what I said for Steve goes double for Noah ... I forgot about him being there b/c he wasn't working on my car, but he's cool and knows what he's doing.
For all I know, Brian is a freaking mastermind mechanic who was just having an off day with the e-brake thing, but you've gotta admit that if your only experience w/ a shop involved the mechanic leaving your e-brake on while he dyno'd the thing, you would be ... hesitant about taking it back there, and probably more apt to believe horror stories you heard about the shop. As far as the "FRIEND'S CAR" thing, I addressed it in my reply to Noah (as far as who the guy was and what he said), and said that I'd clear it up w/ him when I saw him, so until then I'll just shut the f*** up

Bernard's car didn't fall off, one of the straps broke. We replaced his tire and I'm sure he will speak very highly of us. The car was on the dyno to get tuned and he actually had a headgasket problem I believe and we fixed it for him. He was just here yesterday hanging out too.
I'm sorry for the way Brian, I can't say we've ever actually had anyone say good stuff and compliment us about his actions. That is why he know longer works here and does his own thing. He doesn't know much more than H22 motors and boost lol. Aftermarket headgaskets are fine but everyone I know prefer OEM gaskets, specially on turbo cars. If you really wanna do a high compression build then do a Cometic or something but I'd still stick with an OEM if I could.
Just a question, but didn't you leave your stock exhaust here?

I did leave the stock exhaust there ... Brian asked me if I wanted to take it or leave it there when he came in and told me about cutting the metal hanger. I told him that I really couldn't use the exhaust anymore, or give it to anyone else, if the hanger was cut off, so he could keep it if he wanted to, or else I would throw it in my car and just leave it in my garage, and he said it was fine to leave it there.

No experience with us and basing your decision from hear say. Wow! No worries at all. Appreciate your input.
I'm going to guess and say Aerotrends for your hood? Not really any other local places that sell aftermarket exterior parts.
The good thing about VT is they are good with Hondas, and they can get anything you want whether it be performance, cosmetics, wheels, tires, dyno time, etc. On top of that, Steve works his ass off and I hope the scene/industry improves here in Jax. We can't even compete with Orlando/Tampa/Miami.

My decision was not based on hear say at all.......just a decision made on my own. Nothing against your shop at all I just purchased parts some place else and when I purchased these parts its not like I weighed my options whether or not to go to Velocity Trends or not..........I just had a certain place that I purchase parts from regularly so I've stuck with them since.
I don't have any experience from them but if I need any parts I probably wouldn't go to them and as far as tuning goes I'd probably use Stage 6 anyday.
"Um....I like burgers and I have been loyal to Burger King I have been going for years.....I will never go to Wendy's, Mcdonalds, etc."
Thats what your saying. Its cool I can respect that. What does your responce have to do then with VT then. Where's the substance. Justification for making a comment as such, so then to just come back and say "Oh its because I only buy my parts from here." C'mon dude. Why didn't you just say that from the get go? I can tell you why. Riding the "bash VT bandwagon."
Have a nice day. Maybe your colorful responce would fool a few underage chicks and keep mom and pop happy but I have been around for some time now buddy. Its insulting to be honest with you.
BTW just FYI Stage6 doesn't have a dyno any longer.

You give us props in your statement begining, then bash us, then talk about how you enjoy talking to us still to this day. Whats the deal? I look foward to reading your responce on what I asked above.
So I give your shop "props" because I love the cars you guys build for your own personal use. You make me jealous about how quick you can make your cars, while still retaining a good physical feature and not going over board like some do i.e. cutting holes in exterior parts to "lose weight" or add a, i think it is called a rear bumper defusser, the long metal peice with the large holes in it to release air caught under the bumper at high speeds. Anyways, what I am getting at is you (Steve I do believe) know what you are talking about and build amazing cars.
Now, I have talked to some employees that have worked at your shop before and I do not agree wit what they say nor do I trust them. (I am NOT giving any names on this one) But I can assure you that you, Tommy, or (i forget other guys name. Black gentleman with the black/white STI).
As for the parts that are "worthless". I used a pretty harsh word here i guess. I apologize. The parts i am talking about are the Heavy, knock off rims that are cheap and are made for asthetic use. I would never purchase them for these reasons but others may feel differently about them.
Another thing was a sales man in there (younger guy) was trying to sell me a Hyperground kit for cheap performance stating "It would give me more torque for my lacking 00' Civic DX" That i did not believe so I did not purchase them.
The 05' Rio S2K. I should have stated AP2 then instead of 05'. I thought that was the year of it by memory. So 07', with the tricky throttle programming. I can understand how there were no Turbo kits at the time of the build. Now, when I said build before, I was simply stating Turbomkit install, fabrication and Tune. To me, that is a build. I suppose to others it is not since no motor work is being done. I was their talking to the builder, Mike, and he told me that the owner was setting up an interview with HondaTuning for his car and was going to get Mike into the article as well since we was the Man who fabricated the kit for it. Now, Through hear say (I should have stated that before) I was told by some fellow street guys that the owner blew his motor due to over boosting. Not sure how reliable the source was or even if they had heard from someone else, I just figured since i heard it from 3 different people, it had to be true. guessed wrong since you have the upper hand on that and still talk to the guy.
And the last thing was the cars that I laughed at. These were long time ago, possibly when your shop was located on Beach and Peach st. Mixed variety of cars. some civics, some eclipses, some integras, All of which looked like Pep boys on wheels. They had crap sounding exhaust cans (unsure if it was full exhaust or just muffler). When they popped their hoods, they had asthetic parts and they were full of cheer as they bragged about them too i.e. aftermarket spark plug covers, spark plug wires, short ram intakes. Just down right low quality cars (i say low quality instead of low budget because even though they were low budget, everything looked like it was just thrown together in a hurry. Now the only clue i had that they went to Velocity Trneds was the fact they had large stikers iver their windows. This could be misleading though so that is why I decided not to go into detail before.
I'm Sorry Steve if any of my information before was misleading. Hopefully his clears it up.

Why cant we all just get along?
Steve's just defending his business, which is his life. As would anyone who was in that position. I'd say VT has a right to do that. So far, it's not really an argument or anything, just some points being made back and forth. That's basically the purpose of the thread-- to see what everyone has to say about VT.
