Test pipe and 70mm exhaust is usually good for 5-8.

Sorry to be so condescending earlier, I think I needed a nap.

Many people have gained 10-15whp w/ a test pipe and aftermarket exhaust, with about 5whp of that coming from the test pipe. The problem is that the vast majority of the exhausts that make power on S2000s are so obnoxiously loud that nobody wants to run them on the street. I have personally seen a J's Racing 70RR (70mm headerback, no resonator) make 18whp over stock on a direct back-to-back on the same dyno, maybe 30 minutes apart. However, it registers at like 129db, which is too loud for most race tracks, let alone streets.

And I debate the test pipe v. cat thing as well. Random Technology makes aftermarket cats that make power on every car I've seen use one (I was a muscle car guy at one point, many of those drivers use RT cats), so I know that a proper high-flow cat can make power. I would expect Amuse's cat to make power, based on their dyno charts (I know they're manufacturer-provided, but they are a reputable company).

The OP stated that, during the install, the shop cross-threaded his cat and he can hear an exhaust leak coming from the cat while he is inside the cabin. Therefore, the logical conclusion is that the exhaust leak is robbing him of horsepower (probably some power being robbed from the ECU not having time to adjust @ the time, either).

I'm sure that after 2 dyno runs at 2 seperate shops w/ no hidden agenda & no reason to post false numbers (niether shop sold me the parts) I can feel assured that the end results will be legitimate. I will correct the leak at the cat, and then I'll post the new numbers in a week or 2.

I agree ... just make sure you do a before/after at the new shop, as just getting a set of #s with the Amuse parts on will not be helpful, due to different dynos being calibrated differently.

A before/after seems like a no-brainer, but I honestly hadn't even entertained the thought. Without another stock run, my new run will more or less be worthless. There goes another chunk of cash!

I think you'll gain more whp after the stock ECU relearns your new setup. For example, I had a friend with a Berk Header (coated version) AP2 with some heavy ass 18" rims lol. Anyhow, he was complaining about how his new header didn't chirp his tires like his stock did when he would take off. I told him about how the ECU needs to relearn his new header and it may take awhile too do so. He didn't believe me but went ahead and gave it some time.

About 5 days later, he calls me up and tells me he not only chirps in 1st gear when taking off but also in 2nd and when he shifts to 3rd he was amazed how much he picked up on torque.

I'm sold on this header. I don't need a real dyno to tell me what HP/TQ he gained. It's simple logic the way he described it.

Anyhow to the OP, just wait a few days or so for your ecu to relearn even after the problem with the exhaust leak is solved. That's my .02.

Yeah, it doesn't take that long to learn it though ... the info is on this site somehwere, I forget the exact amount of time, but you're just supposed to let the car idle for something like 5 or 8 minutes after installing the new parts for the ECU to learn it.

Thank you for confirming this! This is what the staff at Bulletproof believes, and I am glad there are others that believe the same thing.
