"Quieter" has nothing to do with a header except if you have an aftermarket exhaust installed with it. Then the exhaust note might be more distinct depending on what you choose to go with.

If you don't want a louder or more resonant exhaust note then purchase an intake set-up such as an AEM or Ingen, just to name a couple, as with an open ended filter you will hear the engine revving up more pronounced than with just the OEM intake box installed. Thats a great sound in my book next to a deep tone from an exhaust.

Let me clear up the issue of gears, since I just built a diff (well waiting on more parts from J's) J's header MSRP is $1300, Amuse I'm guessing is more since its sold by bulletproof (no explanation needed there). A diff will cost you an arm and a leg. Even if you go cheap and get a set of Richmond gears (Ricks) then you need reinforcment, since comptech went out of business I'm not really sure who does this and how much they're charging. I do know puddydaddy builds them but its not cheap, around $1k for fully enforced housing. Then if you dont have the tools you going to spend $600 on that, or just pay someone to put it together. As you can see its starting to add up well beyond a header. I only drove my car for 300 miles but I can tell you second gear felt more like first gear used to, a 5k rpm drop of the accelerator had the back end of the car swaying til 9k rpm haha. I spent close to $3k on my diff, thats on the extreme side, its all JDM high quality parts that dont make noise or whine or anything though, I'm rather happy with the outcome, now if I could just reshim her and start driving it again.....

To answer your question I have my stock exhaust and have j's intake and j's header on. Waiting on my 70RR from gt motorsports. Anyway the engine is a little louder but its a great sound make the engine a little ballsier< if that's a word
Anyway I love the header it is a great addition.

I'd say go with the amuse. You will still get some top end gain, and you honestly won't miss the extra 2-3 that the j's will give you anyway. Plus amuse's regular header weighs 10lbs, and they just came out with a titanium version!!!! I can only imagine the weight of that....3-4lbs!
