Just to let you know, J's loses alot of power on a dyno too
Waiting to see proof of this assumption as no reasoning was applied. But then again, like most ricers on this board, peak HP#'s are worth more than area under the curve, which happens to be complete and utter BS!!!

I believe J's is the way to go, quality air filtration, with similar design to the stock air box, exept with ram air and possibly better flow characteristics and lighter weight. The S2000's motor is fairly maxed from the factory which is why weight reduction is very important. The lighter a car is, the better it performs in every way. Just my lowly $0.02

BTW, I think spending an extra $500 for a Titanium exhaust is worth 30lbs of weight savings.

Hehe I agree. But the main reason why some intakes that do not have an open filter element like the AEM/Injen intakes like the J's, Mugen, M's and possible even the ARC lose power on a dyno is because the fan in front just dosn't generate enough wind to simulate actual driving conditions, cause these intakes rely on the ram air effect to get the air into the intake. So choosing an intake based on dyno numbers isn't the best way.
Very well explained and my last remark asking for clarification should be ignored.

On a dyno, from personal experience, the J' and AEM have similar gains almost mirroring each other up until 6000rpms. Upon VTEC, the J's loses huge amounts of power almost going flat while the AEM CAI continue to rise. The HP difference at peak hp was 10hp. The reason why the J's lost so much was due to not enough air inside the intake... Kind of depressing to see a 1k intake fall flat on its face, while a 200 dollars intake rises. hehe but under real drivin conditions, I'm sure the J's would perform as well, if not better.

You see...this is good...but what about when you are stopped? What about when you are only doing 30mph? Ram air doesn't really start to become appearent until 60mph+. Or are these fans at the dyno only flowing 10mph of air?

The fans at dynos are most likely blowing...5mph? Maybe even less? Hence reason why I say dyno numbers should not be the deciding factor when choosing an intake. Read a few posts above.

Get the comptech. If you're not going for JDM bling, it's one of the best bang for buck. It's a quality piece, looks good, no risk of hydrolock, you don't have to mess with the hood to fit it, and does it gain some hp and throttle response. Plus it sounds better than stock. What more could you want?

Guess I shouldn't say to just get the K&N FIPK and call it a day. Costs less then all the intakes mentioned (aside from the AEM), no hydrolock worry, no heatsoak, and same power gains. Just no CF / JDM bling but (as far as JDM goes) thats all overrated anyway.
