So I am headed to Japan at the end of this month (Fly out March 30th) and I want to visit ASM and any other cool shops int he area. Do I need to email ahead and make an appointment or anything before hand? What other shops are in that area that I should visit? Do you think the airline will be ok with my bringing an emotional support ASM bumper or Recaro seat on my flight back?

Seat, and bumper you will need to Freight back. You can bring it on the plane, however the price is something you should look into first.

No need to make an appointment, but if you wanted to buy stuff maybe email them ahead of time to make sure they'll have stock. You'll have to put a deposit down to hold the items for pick up. They do tax free as well if you buy over 5,000 or 10,000¥ (iirc) worth of stuff. You'll have to bring your passport. Tax is 8%.

I don't think there's anything else of interest in that area car shop wise, at least to me. Spoon / Type One / Feel's / Seeker are all in the same-ish area around Ogikubo station, a few stations west of Shinjuku. There's Super Autobacs in Yokohama (a bit far from ASM) and one at Tokyo Bay near Shinonome station.

Is anybody using an ASM throttle body with the spacer?

I was wondering if it would work on stock AP1 ECU.
It seems like the spacer adds a little bit of volume to the intake manifold. Would that cause the MAP sensor to send incorrect reading to the ECU?
