A bigger throttle body worth it?
I am running DH-racing's TB made by RPM Service...and its one monster opening at 74mm closeing down to 70mm going into the manifold which i port-matched with a dremmel tool.....if your staying all motor my dyno runs have shown the stock TB is perfect as i didn't see any gains in HP on top end even with tuning from the AEM EMS....all my gains were down low and espically in the mid-range from tuning....as far as forced induction is concerned now is where you will see gains in peak HP fom the larger TB
from knowing friends with other B-series turbo hondas......anything over 400 whp big HP #'s will be seen from a 3-inch TB

Well I Put a BDL 68-66 tapper design to my Ported OEM IM and i noticed that the car had a Better Vtec transition and stronger pull from 6 k upwards but as the TB says 68 i ported my OEM IM Up to 67.5 to 68mm which i think its the maximum without damaging the IACV opening. Than it cam that i had my IM opening bigger than the TB.
Now the BDL is a perfect match to the CF IM i have since its a 66-67mm opening on that.
On the other Hand I think that there is no point on Getting a Bigger TB if you don't port match it and i think its the best to get another TB and not port your OEM one since there is so little to be bore.
IMHO the DH racing Tapper design TB is the best. but if i remember its a 74-69mm tapper design and its around 300+$ and their Straight Trough TB are as cheap as 140-150$.
Anyway if you port match the IM to the TB you probably would have to take the IM off and that's a PITA and i could tell you that when you are at it why not port and polish your IM runners...
Cheers.
