Default C-West Induction Box

Hello all,

I am very interested in the C-West induction box and was wondering if anyone is running this setup. I know it requires quite a bit of custom work to install it. Does anyone know what all is required for installation and does anyone know how well this intake functions?

Thanks,
Will

I think the reason no one actually has this intake other than C-West is because once you get to the point of needing or being able to use an intake of this style, you're already doing so much custom fabrication work that it only makes sense to custom fab your own intake.

When Tracy Sports built the C-West race cars, they put a lot of hard work into the process. I could be mistaken but I believe C-West moved the engine back a few inches in order to make more room for the V-mount radiator, radiator shroud, and Prototype hood. Tracy Sports also cut the front support bar off of the chassis (the piece that the OEM airbox sits on). All of this would have to be done in order to have the induction box perform at maximum capacity. On the Version 2 car, Tracy Sports took it further and created a custom chassis reinforcement that I believe acted as a strut tower bar and went under the induction box. Here is a picture, courtesy of Super Street that gives a great under the hood view of the Version 2:

As you can see, this is easily a $20,000 job. I admire this build and I am willing to support anyone who wants to follow through with it (I use to want this build myself).

Just so there is no confusion, as I mentioned earlier Tracy Sports spear headed the build for both C-West Prototype cars; I could be wrong but I believe Tracy Sports was also involved in some of the earlier J's Racing Honda build.

If anyone is interested, here is some background info about Tracy Sports from Ben Schaffer's blog. It is broken down into three separate posts.

Tracy Sports 2
Tracy Sports 3

They moved the motor back a couple inches to bring the engine closer to the center of the car. Technically it's not difficult to do and Honda could have done the same thing, but it makes access to the engine much harder. It's already hard getting the valve cover on.

Ummm I found that pic. But ASM had the same set up with the first car they had. Everything was the same just with out the cf chamber box to the ITBs.

I think if you wanna go this route its cheaper then doing the c-west idea. the only hard thing is ITBs are very hard to tune **what people tell me**. Also for DBW cars you have to change it to cable. Lot of work.
Good luck with the project will.
