Default got an idea about cutout

I was just browsing on youtube and came across cutouts. Now i had an idea! (lightbulb on) what if someone kept on there stock exhaust, but put on a straight pipe where that cat goes and put a cutout on that. Would that even be practical? personally i dont like being loud ALL the time, so have it turned off when just driving, and turned on when racing. comments?

The tradeoff is weight. By ADDING a cutoff, you're adding weight to your existing exhaust, as opposed to having just one (albeit loud) exhaust.

Had one of these on my old Camaro...pretty cool idea. I would guess it weighed in at a whopping 3 lbs...

These were all the rage on LS1 F-bodies several years ago.

What do you mean would it be practical? With the cutout closed you would sound and perform like stock. With it open you would sound and perform as if you were open exhaust or cat-only, depending on if you have a cat or not.
Look at the website for what kinds of cars (NA and FI) run them and make up your own mind...
