Default HOW TO: cut hood for J's Intake on stock hood

hey everyone, i have a dead stock 05 s2k right now and am looking to get the J's Racing Intake system with carbon heat plate.

I am aware that the underside of the stock hood would need some trimming. I am curious to see if anyone has a template or pictures of when they cut the hood.

Even pictures of already cut hoods would be beneficial.

Better yet, a complete install guide as far as fitment to stock grill/hood etc...

**I know an intake install is a cake walk, but all of my previous intake installs have not required any modification!

Thanks Guys. Getting my membership soon!

Here are two pictures I took of another members ride. This is basically the cutout you need, could be done cleaner tho. I hope this helps.

Template and instructions for cut can be found here:

www.amuseboy.fpic.co.uk

Click on Mugen Cold air intake - same cut required.

is that the only modification needed for the newest version from J's?

I just had mine installed yesterday, and if you, like me have the new version of the intake only the cutting of the hood is necessary. The older version required people to cut the front bumper to fit the snorkel air dam section, the new version fits perfect. I used touch up paitn around the cut sides to protect it further, I added door guard edge to clean it up and it looks great.

since you have to cut the air deflector thing in front of the radiator, can you just remove that entire piece all together?

Yes, you can since the entire bumper has to be removed as with a few other things prior to installation. An aftermarket cooling panel should be used if you are going to remove the stock air guide, plus you get the added bling with it.
