the n1 ecu is programmed to be used in conjunction with their exhaust, header, optional j's internal work, and tsuchinoko intake. Not really for a stock car. It is optimized for their parts

For the same price you can have the Emanage, which is tunable. Not only air fuel ratios but also timing, which goes a long way.

Andre
thanks for your feedback dude. I understand the flexibility of tuning cos i had a standalone ecu on my previous car. i like that too but the fact of the matter is where i am in asia, i dont trust the work. i've been disappointed too many times and don't want to deal with all the niggly problems.

i'm in a sunny part of tropical asia so i think the j's ecu might be quite compatible for me. i really want to just plug it and spend more time on the roads getting the feel of the car instead of being holed up week after week at the shops tuning and re-tuning.

Come up to KL then, N1 / Links / JC Racing (also runs/sells J's Racing) / Pentagon (J's distro, also helped run the J's S2k in the last MME), at least they all have vast race experience .

Although really, you don't trust garage-R or ST or anyone there? Also, a piggyback is not the same as a standalone in complexity. It's not like you're driving a car that
a) has a german nazi for an ECU (see proton, took 2 years of trial and error to get a piggyback to work properly on the CAMPRO based cars because of Siemens)
b) doesn't have alot of white paper on how to hook it up and examples of tuning etc.

Give EMU a try, better than paying top dollar for a "j's racing" ECU. Gotta remember their climate is nowhere near ours, and their fuel octane is also different (we're not far off but still ). Amemiya comes down to KL/Singapore to tune Rotary's himself here, in our climate. Even on engines his own factory builds.

send me a PM with your garage and i'll think about it.

for now, i'll be focusing on finding where the limit is on handling rather than thinkning too much about power.

the s2000's forte is after all the way the way she dances.

Its just like a mugen ecu.. They wil tell you what parts should be used for max optimal use. In my opinion getting any type of engine management and tuning it will produce the same, and you can do your own mods. But again thats my opinion..

I would go with the Hondata reflash. They are real pro's and their reflash for the Civic Si has been getting excellent reviews.

By comparison (and having owned a Spoon ECU), the JDM ECU's are a big waste of money unless you have the *exact* same motor as the company that produced the ECU itself. In the case of J's, that means a built $10,000 + engine in addition to that little ECU!

The e-manage ultimate would be another option, but as you correctly noted, the tuner will either make or break that option.

I know I sound like a broken record on these forums, but again - if you want the best bang for the buck and stay N/A - get a set of 4.57 gears. It really livens the car up.
