he has an 06 with the F20C engine and DBW.. so basically if he installs the 2.2L stroker kit wouldnt the OEM F22C ECU work well with the kit?
(toda offers a kit with the exact same displacement as the USDM F22C engine)

ofcourse there r some minor differences with EDM 06 cars and the USDM 06.. like the type of fuel in europe, foglight button, and not having cruise control.. i assume maybe those things would have an effect?
No, you should be using a Motec ECU. That is what Toda recommends.

Is there anyone on this entire forum who runs a Motec ECU in a daily driven car? How about the wiring?

Maybe the Motec is better than the AEM an sich, but when you see that there is a plug and play AEM, my choice would be easily made.

Dont know what differs EDM vs USDM, when it comes to dampers etc.
I guess you have a softer model, or?

I don't know if anyone on the boards runs a Motec, but I have looked into the Toda, Tracy, and ASM, and know for a fact, all three companies recommends using the Motec.

In fact, I don't know you could get support for the kits, if you don't use the Motec, as that is what the companies all use.

ASM/Toda
Tracy Sports 2.3l
Youtube ASM Tsukuba

I don't really know if these cars all use a Motec ECU (well except for the ASM car), but they don't seem daily drivers to me

I've did a search and there aren't even Australian owners who use it (because of the wiring loom I guess).
I"ll ask our Motec importer about, but on their site they say that it is for race use only.
Time to make a few phone calls!

I know for a fact both the ASM/Toda engines use it because I have spoken with Bernard at J-Ondemand, the authority on all things ASM in the US. Regarding the Tracy Sports motor, Albert at Speedstar.ca, who is the mechanic for the Tracy Sports race car in the Canada, has told me the Tracy Sports stroker kit requires the Motec.

I am not sure. Type in Motec M4. That is the Ecu you need.

We can source you a Motec standalone. If we are supplying you the J's Racing Kit, i can likely get you some base maps from J's Racing Japan as well.

anyone know if you can still spin the j's kit to 9k rpm?
Ever seen the BMI #19 where they're on the Maze circuit and one of the drivers over revs the J's car and piston chunks go flying all over the track. J's raised the rev limiter to 9k for that race. Then engine can rev to 9k but I think its the absolute max for that size displacement. This guy downshifts and probably bumps 10k and the motor disintegrates.
