Can anyone who has this header with a stock exhaust comment on it's characteristics?

Does it make the exhaust note louder or just deeper?

Does it sound raspy/ricey at all?

Any bothersome resonance?

Seat of your pants, do you percieve the low/mid power band to improve?

Do you feel like it was worth the money?

I could be interested in one of these on a group buy.

How about $1280 shipped anywhere in the continental US?

Would that work?

I'm in for that. I'm also in for the Mugen hardtop buy as well.

I'll get with you in the next week or two Ben and settle up with you on this.

Thanks

If you grab the hardtop then you'll get this header price regardless of whether we officially start this group buy or not. Just make your choice in the next week to get this deal. Thanks.

If everyone is waiting for dynos I suggest also waiting for dynos of the Tracy Sports 2.2L header. I have a hunch it will put out more power than the Mugen and the J's. Someday we'll find out.

I just installed the Mugen 2.2l header last night (also running Toda exhaust and berk test pipe). Seems like there are gains from about 3000 - 4000 rpms and up (butt dyno). Low end feels about the same. Mid-range and top-end feel stronger than with stock manifold.

It weighs much less than the stock header and fitment is perfect (the bolt underneath the heat sheild bracket is a pain in the @$$ to tighten down though). The exhaust note is deeper at idle and when vtec engages the car is louder than before (sounds great!).

Overall I am happy with the purchase I would recommend this header to anyone running the 2.2l motor. Plus if you live in an area where the police would pop your hood, the heat sheild may help you out

Sorry, I dont have any before and after dyno's, but with the other mods on my car, a dyno really would not help out anyway. Just giving everyone my opinion

Do you have an estimate of how much the stock/mugen headers/manifolds weigh?

I just got my Mugen header installed and thought that I would share my first impressions. They are pretty close to neveronlines2k's remarks.

Overall, I am very happy with the mod. I can feel a real difference in the car's responsiveness at both the low and mid rpm range (0-6,500). The car doesn't seem to "bog" down from the line as much as it did as stock. The throttle response around 3,000-6,500 was the first thing that I noticed. It also seemed to pull alot harder in the mid rpm range. However, at the top end, the V-tec did not seem to engage as hard has before. I would say this was the only "negative" aspect that I noticed.

The sound of the motor also changed after I installed the Mugen header. It sounds relatively like stock until around 4,000 rpm. At that point the motor sounds much more "throaty". The closest thing I can liken it to would be an "S" with a Comptech CAI. Also, the weight of the Mugen header was significantly lighter than the stock header. Both of these items were nice side benefits to the motor performance change that I noted.

All in all, I am once again a satisfied Mugen customer!
