So what you're saying is the ~7 rwhp gain across the board in this dyno plot is false information?

I'm really surprised you lost low-end torque and were unable to pull on your cousin's stock '06. With what is probably the best aftermarket header and a decent 70mm dual, I'd expect you would've been able to have felt a dramatic power increase.

Something doesn't compute.
Do you always believe manufature power figures..... if so i feel for you,

[QUOTE=zbrewha863,Apr 30 2007, 03:37 PM] 70mm is not too big for NA, it's perfect on this car.

Well I have been conditioned to become more skeptical with manufacturer numbers over the years.

However, if you can't trust manufacturer numbers, what can you rely on for reliable information nowadays?

K&N claims their FIPK intakes provide a decent gain across the board, but many people have reported and shown they only gained a fraction of that number. So who can you trust here in this case? The manufacturer, whom you'd expect to maybe exaggerate their claims to entice their product, or the customer testimonial?

Everything is so arbitrary these days. You can't trust dyno numbers if the mods weren't installed on the same day, at the same ambient temperature, at the same humidity, at the same dyno, at the same calibration, etc. There are far too many variables nowadays to even claim you were able to gain 10 more hp when you installed an intake a week after you baselined your car.

I have done all my modifications baselines and after all within 30mins or less, same dyno.

I know what makes power on these cars, I have seen it, tested it, etc. like i said, if he were going for all out performance a single 70mm would have yielded much better gains... W no cat.

I can give a rats ass what manufactures claim, I claim what i have seen... what you are saying about the K&N is exactly true, people are doing baseline dynos and then adding the intake and months later they wonder why it only gained 1 HP or even lost power........

Getting the Invidia single was actually what I had in mind also, when considering which exhaust to mate with the header. But with the AP2 rear bumper, I couldn't stand having a naked hole on the left side, but I still wanted performance bumps, so I thought the Invidia dual was the best one out there, being 70mm full piping to the muffler cans. There is also the T1r sparrow 70mm, but after the split, I think I read that it is no longer 70mm.

Maybe in a little bit I will get a single, R1000 (ya right!) or the J's 70RR. For now, I'm pretty satisfied with the Invidia. And once I give the parts some more time and get my next oil change to full synthetic, I can try again to see if there's a different outcome, with the cat on. Then will see again with a 70mm or 65mm test pipe.

everyone

Oh wait, J's exhaust parts don't fit MY06, guess I'll have to save for the Amuse R1000.

nice very nice, but whatever you do, if you decide to get the Testpipe make sure it is the same piping size as your cat-back

Yeah definately agree with that one. Also noone makes a 65mm test pipe, there are 60mm, 63mm, and 70mm. Since your header collector output is 65mm and your exhaust is 70mm, I would go with a 70mm.
