Those weight are quoted from Toda's official site... it should be correct...

well, yes and no.... there is other places that can gain hp... but if you are staying NA.... you will find you in a hunt for any way to gain power....

you can gain only so much with I/H/E .. a nice standalone AEM EMS... then what?? bored TB... maybe ITB... then what? you will keep finding yourself facing walls.... then you would think, maybe pulley is not a bad idea...

roughly $700 bucks for 8hp (Toda claims) doesn't seem so bad any more does it...

I only questioned them because I read on s2ki that the oem crank pulley was 6.2lbs and the link shows 4.4lbs. Which is correct?

So now we know the weights of the oem and Toda, can anyone provide the info for the Tracy Sports and Arrows?

Lastly, I would like to know why all the pulley kits (T1R, Tracy Sports, Arrows) are 5 pulleys, but the Toda is only 3? Did they conclude that there was not much to be gained on the auto tensioner and idler pulleys?

hmm.. 6.2lbs?? I donno.. but either way... Toda is significantly lighter than the oem...

Tracy Sports is the lightest, because it has all 5 pulleys... but seeking exact weight might be hard, since no one stock these pulleys.

as for Arrow, I would rather do Toda or Tracysports.. better reputation..

as for your question regarding 3 pulley instead of 5, I already ask Bulletproof.. and they answer me instantly, very helpful guys.

Quote:
In regards to your question about 3 vs. 6, it all relates to physics. Tracy Sports wanted as little rotational mass as possible and save as much weight as possible. This is very beneficial in terms of performance.

Toda went with three in order to save weight and reduce rotational mass, but by only going with three the use the other three stock pulleys Toda relies on the intertia and momentum of the heavier stock pulleys to keep the spinning rate going.

In the end 3 vs. 6 is the same principal as a flywheel for a clutch. The lighter ones give you better initial throttle response, but the heavier ones keep the inertia and momentum going which is better for higher RPM/speed.

i had an UR pulley on my nissan. it was on there for about 25-30k miles no problem. no problem until my engine ate a thrust bearing. i dont blame the pulley but im done with them just for peace of mind.

Not sure if these are correct though
Bump to the future. Yes the OEM weights are correct. Their weightings vs mine:

Alternator: 322g vs 323g
Water pump: 520g vs 521g
Crank: 1984g vs 1986g

What I'm really surprised is their Toda crank pulley is only 450g!!! Less than 1/4 the OEM weight!

And I thought the T1R was already pretty light @ 739g.

it is probably because Toda's pulleys are made from duralumin and the T1R's are forged aluminum. this was mentioned on ASM autobacs blog.

gotuning.com sells toda pulleys, and asm has now made tension and idler pulleys to go with them

I hope I can help you guys in any way I can, because I too am interested in pulleys since I plan on staying N/A.

I came across a guy on YouTube that did his research and actually got the entire T1R Pulley set for his S.

Below the video, this guy put a link of his setup and all his research. I found it to be very good information.

Here is a Link for his research: http://mannys2k.blogspot.com/

Below is the video.
