Default is this true about varis japan

i really like their hood for our car. but i just found this. if anything left their origin, they wont take any responsibility.

http://forums.evolutionm.net/service-parts...rvice-ever.html

Well, I just wanted to tell people about my recent run in with Varis. But before i start i would like to say that inorder to contact varis in any way you must talk to bulletproofautomotive.com (authorized dealer) here in the usa.

BULLETPROFFAUTOMOTIVE.COM are amazingly great people and provide some of the BEST customer service you can ask for, they were the middle man between me and varis and they did their best to help me but varis just sucks.

I have a varis carbon fiber lip on my Evo 9 MR, if you dont know, varis carbon lips cost $800 plus shipping and waiting time to arrive from japan. So you would think a company would be happy when you buy this. My lip cracked, and no i did not run into anything, nothing hit it or anything even touch it. Lip just got a huge spider crack in the clear coat and turned into a big problem (will try to get pics).

So i figured let me contact them and see if they provide any repair service or maybe help me out with fixin or replacing my lip.

so after bulletproofautomotive.com contact and dealt with varis japan over a period of 1 week.

In the end, varis said they do not provide any help or support for any product that leaves japan. Only option is for me to buy a new one, and again bulletproofautomotive.com offered to give me another lip at the lowest cost possible to offer and even deal my insurance if i preffered that.

I will contacted my insurance and found out i can get reimbursed for the lip but will definatly not buy another product from varis, i figure they make alot more money for thier products here in the usa than what they make from them in japan and yet they cant help out a customer.

well thats it, just felt the evo community should hear about this and consider before buying things from varis.

and a special thanks to bulletproofautomotive.com for all thier hard work.

I actually think that is the case with many of our favorite JDM tuners (including Amuse). After it leaves Japan, it's no longer their baby. B.P. can correct me if I'm wrong.

Well he had the lip on his car. End of subject for Varis.
I've had Varis parts on my Z before and they were great.

On the bright side, I would think that defects are few and far between w/ most of these companies. I know that B.P. will do their absolute best to take care of any defective product.

I remember Go Tuning for example, helping costumers w/ resonator problems involving their ASM exhaust.

I somehow doubt that the lip just magically "cracked." If it was fine when he installed it, anything that happens to it after that is on him, IMO.

i'm trying to understand how it was fine before he installed it, then installed it and the clear coat cracked on it's own? is there more to the story? because if this was my product and a customer came to me with this story, i'd have to try really hard to believe it.

i mean the only way i can see that it's Varis' fault is if the lip was designed poorly, in such a way that for the lip to be properly isntalled, it is stretched or bent, causing it to crack eventually. But you'd have to prove this with multiple occurrences i would think, otherwise if it were a one-off situation, could have easily been installer error too!

this kind of reminds me of people who come into a cell phone store with a cracked screen on their phone... Saying that when they went to bed the screen was fine and when they woke up it was broken, as if it magically cracked itself during the night.

I believe that is a hairline stress fracture most likely due to improper mounting.

with everything above. Whether its Varis or some knockoff, lips don't just magically crack. This guy either mounted it improperly, hit something, or was hit by something (maybe while parked?), and is trying to blame it on Varis.

I don't know any company that would give him a new lip or repair the current one after he installed it, this really has nothing to do with Varis as a company or the fact that they are in Japan. Nobody gives a warranty on body parts after they are prepped/painted or installed because after that, it is out of the company's hands.
