if you check some photos or video of the Widebody ASM S2000 in action it is usually using an extension on the GT Spoiler basically making it a high mounted spoiler.

yeah it is hard to say if this is just based on the non-staggered set up, but that is a completely legitimate reason. the non staggered setup increases oversteer during turn in and braking correct? and maybe overall, which makes the cars speed through corners quite a bit higher, so the larger GT wing is just a way to even this out a little more and have a really neutral car in these situations.

Well right now my driving style is limited by my "tight" car setup. Not that it effects me too much as I do very well at TT's and Hot Lap comp's. I do feel there is more speed to be had with the right wing.

A "loose" setup and wing should be good for another sec or two. To do it right i'll switch to my non-staggered volks with either staggered or non-staggered tires(have not decided yet), increase my front spring rates by another 100lbs and run a mid or high wing.

I like the J's and ASM mid wing so far....

btw I do have a Mugen Hardtop.

If you actually want to create down force (and I would hope you do if you're buying a wing) you'd want the high mount wing. Unlike a spoiler, a wing needs air passing above and below it to create down force. This air, however, is being routed away from the rear deck lid as it flows over the windshield and roof of the car. At a speed fast enough for the wing to create signifigant downforce, this air is going to have a very hard time making it back down.

In Formula 1, Cart, and other cars, the reatr wing sticks way out in clean air. Even in sports car series, the wings are only inches lower than the top of the roof. Just take a look at some of the picture from the Leguna Seca ALMS event:

The only reason NASCAR runs spoilers instead of wings is because they are required to be the rules. As was already mentioned, a wing in clean air will give you a much higher downforce to drag ratio.

Here's another example of an S2K race car with a rear spoiler;

Racecar

As far as I know any style rear wing is allowed in HC1. People do use spoilers over wings to race. It could be due to the tracks they run, the number of high & low speed turns and the length of the straights. Different track configurations may favor this???

If it's the same car, then I have an in-car vid of the above S2K from one the races it participated in. Very fast!

Another wing I find interesting is this ASM wing that utilizes a Low mount and a Mid or High height mount together. If you look at this pic closely you'll see what I mean...

I have no idea. But the car is/was sponsored by King Motorsports.
