Where did you get those prices from?
Thank goodness I've never had to pay anywhere close to that. AP2 tranny was maybe $900. Complete longblock installed maybe $5k. In fact, I've seen complete dropouts(motor and tranny) fro around $4k on the board. One guy in Cali was selling an '07 or '08 complete longblock for less than $4k. If I didn't have to do the conversion(because of the DBW), it would already be in my car- especially since the new NASA TT rules favor the late AP2's over any other years.
No need to ask me how I know these things. I'm sure most on here can vouch that I've been through it all.

I love this forum. People who actually drive in NASA events are in it. <3
Just in case a would-be tracker comes across this thread,
I posted my harness install with pics of the mounting locations here:

Mani,
I'll send Mark an email and see if I can vouch for you to go solo. I just PM'd you.
BSR is about to go live with online registration at this site:
http://www.summitpointfatt.com
The site has a "Registration" button, but it's not turned on yet.
If you stay on the site long enough my car will show up in the banner.

I mean dont get me wrong i would love to race an s2000 but when it comes down to it there just isnt enough competiton or and contingency through Honda, Where as mazda's contingency and ladder system is fantastic. Just another reason why I may end up goin down the SM route.
and one day build an insane track day s2000

either way you look at it, Its still a hell of a lot cheaper to run/race a miata, just the cost alone....brake rotors are $12 a long block is about $1500-1800 new. trany can be picked up for about $200, and the miata's arnt so high strung like the s2000.

Do you have a big dragon or some such decal on your car? I think I saw you observing (not driving) at Shenandoah last year. Are you tracking that car now?

I just drive what I have. I've had my car nearly seven years. It was never meant to be a track car originally- just happened to be one in the end. It's not a racecar though, just a track car.
