Negative on NASA, not sure on SCCA but 99% sure it's a negative also.
At the last SCCA event in 2010 at summit main, at least one S2000 was running with a factory hardtop and no aftermarket roll bar. If you look at their rules that is actually ok.

New Mid-Atlantic Instructor Time Trial policy. Their policy worked, let the instructors TT for free and grow TT popularity.

From the Cobettos:
i wonder how many will choose not to instruct then. TT and Instructing makes for crazy day.

That's a good point--that's why I only instructed once with NASA last year.

OT, but can you run Summit with NASA HPDE or SCCA PDX without an aftermarket roll bar in place?
you might be able to run at summit without a roll bar with some organizations (up to each organization and it's a judgment call). Trackdaze last year let someone run - but instructors still have the right not to run with you.

I don't think i will do both again. didnt feel like i could focus on either.

If I am competitive in TTC with Skips suspension and a wing, I'll probably just run TT and instruct with FATT and TD (if they'll have me)

I am one step closer to being ready for the track.

Whatever Adrienne's dad does in PCA (Just HPDE I think) requires up to date harnesses, and he just had to replace his 2005 models. He gave them to me if I can use them. As far as I can tell from reading NASA's rules, they should be ok. I still haven't looked at FATT or TD. Does anybody know their requirements off hand?

Also, any opinions on using 5 year old harnesses? They appear to be in great shape.

Hopefully I just need seats now (My helmeted head sticks above the windshield frame, and my rollbar, so I want lower seats before I get out on the track)

IIRC only W2W racing w/ NASA requires up to date harnesses...

you'll be fine with those as long as they are 5 or 6 point. Don't use stock seats with a sub belt though.

Thanks.

Yeah, definitely won't use these with stock seats. Just planning to use them with whatever my new seats end up being.

I just got off the phone with Chris Cobetto and he's going to give me a NASA provisional racing license when I complete the March SCCA double comp school. I'll be able to race in the April NASA event at Summit Point They normally don't do that until you've got a race or two under your belt with the SCCA but because of my history with NASA as an instructor and TTer he's cutting me some slack.

Don't use stock seats with a sub belt though.
You can run the stock seats with a sub belt and pass NASA & SCCA tech. I used a two point sub attachment and bolted each end of the sub belt to the normal seat belt attachment points and ran the sub belt up between the seat back and seat bottom. You just sit on the sub belt and pull it up between your legs and fasten. It's not optimal but it's safe and legal.
