2011 Track Junkie Thread
i do not track my s2k, so others will have to answer what they have tried and seem to think works best...
or if you have lotsa money, but one of each and go wind tunnel testing...
as i said, all about balance. add downforce and you need to start thinking about different springs, shocks, dampers, tires, etc to take advantage.
if all you are doing is track days to do some fast laps without the police chasing you, it is easy to start dropping lots of cash without any real gain other than saying you were 1/10th faster that day.
work on basic skills with what you have, get comfortable at speed, once you are VERY consistent, look for best bang for the bucks to get better times without selling your future retirement dreams. just changing from dot tires to dot slicks to slicks can mean a couple of seconds per lap, and yes, better tires = better speed = think about better braking required.... track pads and fluid should go with toyo's (dot slicks), need to go with hoosiers (race slicks)
Rob would be a good person to sit down and talk with, spent years doing track days and experimenting with things to do personal bests then TT sessions, then this year has jumped into wheel to wheel racing. each change of direction also caused changes to what he could do to the car due to class/competition requirements.
he should still have some pictures about how big of a front splitter is too big.....

I made a last minute decision to run at NJMP with TrackDaze yesterday on the Thunderbolt circuit. It was a blast. The wing is amazing.
I instructed a couple students and was on track for 5+ hours. Too much. The students were sharing a loaner 335i because their m5 was broken. Needless to say, they treated it accordingly. I think they were gansters from eastern europe. They insisted on tipping me 20 bucks which was hilarious.
So, I made money going to the track!
