2012 MD/NOVA Auto-X Thread
Is it any wonder there are so many in STR? It's the class that allows most of the mods that people want to do, without requiring anything over the top like slicks (I think what's allowed in the stock classes is just ridiculous - slicks and $1000/corner custom dampers? cmon...)
It was the largest class at Nationals last year with over 60 I believe. I have heard people comment that this year may bring more than 100. STR is great. WTF. Let's find a few more and just make it an even 20 entries. We'll roll up and just stop the whole event.
I'll have to come out to the 6/3 SCCA event. I've never run with them and I'll be getting a feel for the new setup after autoxing with CDC that Saturday
Also, we had 13 S2ks attending last week's CDC event. It would be cake to have 20 of us at an SCCA event if people came out.

Yeah. A lot of people are intimidated by the SCCA crowd. I remember thinking that the SCCA people were "really intense" and that if I had a question people would not want to answer it because it was "top secret' or a "threat" or whatever. But to tell you the truth, I find SCCA people vary widely. Most are very cool and laid back. They are somewhat intense insofar as they are focused, but most will certainly help you out with something -- especially if they know your car well (i.e. ask an STR guy or BS guy something and they will usually be happy to assist). Other non-SCCA people I think like to build confidence first since they fear being blown away b some "SCCA ringer." I think there is merit in that fear, but then again I would rather be beaten and know honestly where I stand than be ignorant and blissful. To each their own. I can definitely say that I find the SCCA courses easier to navigate than many small site courses. Looping around several times gets me confused, and I don't like it. SCCA courses rarely double back, and are intuitive because that's the key to efficiency and safety.
So hopefully more small lot people will join us at the "big lot" and just ask questions and stuff. I don't see how anyone could be too arrogant given that there are no consistent winners in STR, and the top local STR people all know where they stand nationally and are reminded at those events that we all have a long way to go.
Come join in!!

hey everyone nice meeting y'all last wknd at CDC, been busy to post up here, I'm Ricardo for y'all that don't know, I finally uploaded my video from Bowie event http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSm90...e_gdata_player I can't wait to get this SCCA STR season started for sure! keeps growing o.o i got a lot of work to do(driver) n play with the car, as Noel has showned me at NJ last weekend there's much to be learned
Put some hoos on your car one event. ST and SP aren't too far apart on prep (granted SP has more allowances). You'll be underwheeled (word?) and tired without some fender work, but still.
