2012 MD/NOVA Auto-X Thread
Yeah. A lot of people are intimidated by the SCCA crowd. I remember thinking that the SCCA people were "really intense" and that if I had a question people would not want to answer it because it was "top secret' or a "threat" or whatever. But to tell you the truth, I find SCCA people vary widely. Most are very cool and laid back. They are somewhat intense insofar as they are focused, but most will certainly help you out with something -- especially if they know your car well (i.e. ask an STR guy or BS guy something and they will usually be happy to assist). Other non-SCCA people I think like to build confidence first since they fear being blown away b some "SCCA ringer." I think there is merit in that fear, but then again I would rather be beaten and know honestly where I stand than be ignorant and blissful. To each their own. I can definitely say that I find the SCCA courses easier to navigate than many small site courses. Looping around several times gets me confused, and I don't like it. SCCA courses rarely double back, and are intuitive because that's the key to efficiency and safety.
So hopefully more small lot people will join us at the "big lot" and just ask questions and stuff. I don't see how anyone could be too arrogant given that there are no consistent winners in STR, and the top local STR people all know where they stand nationally and are reminded at those events that we all have a long way to go.
Come join in!!

But every time I look at how big the list is for our class and it's astonishing!!! To know 70% of our field will be within 1-2 seconds of top 3!!!!! Such good competition in a friendly family of car owners!

I can't afford four 275 or 295 A6s to put on my STR wheels Mike!! And it would have to be at the end of the season too since going to Hoosiers is easy, but coming back to street tires takes time. I'm glad I had the winter to "reset" after a few months in BS last year.
Ricardo you killed Bowie. Way to go. I think you were the fastest S2000 there...
Looks like there may be a few S2000s at Cumberland this Saturday.
hey everyone nice meeting y'all last wknd at CDC, been busy to post up here, I'm Ricardo for y'all that don't know, I finally uploaded my video from Bowie event http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSm90...e_gdata_player I can't wait to get this SCCA STR season started for sure! keeps growing o.o i got a lot of work to do(driver) n play with the car, as Noel has showned me at NJ last weekend there's much to be learned

I'm coming for you now! I think the switch from all seasons to r-s3s will make that 1.5s up
And do you BSP guys trailer your car there or have like a wheels trailer and a hitch on your car?

I have a Chase Race hitch on my car and a ledge thingy that I put two wheels on, one in trunk, and one on passenger seat. Gonna start driving to events on my normal wheels to preserve the race tires even though I'm on dunlops for race tires
Less chance of nails, and less wear in general.
It was a total death trap when I had 4 18x10.5" with 285 A6's on them in the car. I can't fit the 315's inside the car. Plus my car breaks all the time (a street prepared tradition), so I opted to tow this year.

I still can't believe the traction you had with your all seasons Tommy... RE960's are the magic ticket in the cold?
Beautiful run Ricardo... suppose I should be happy with the 40.3 I pulled, being my first AutoX and all. I NEED MORE SEAT TIME! LOL Missing Cumberland this weekend, and I'm too late to register for alot of the other stuff. Suppose I'll try to make BMW Club's Waldorf meet later this month.
