excuses excuses. Some of you guys are ridiculous. I will personally vouch for the man after many years of no bullshit straight business between us.

How about you guys get up out of moms basement for a minute or two, grab a bottle of water and give the man a telephone call.

Sending someone a car hardtop isn't exactly like dropping a postcard to grandma at the mailbox...
With 39 posts in 8 years you feel as if you have the experience to pass judgement on an active member of our community? Or, is this someone we know hiding behind a second account?

HTG's woes are well documented with many members in regions all across the S2Ki boards. If you read is little as you have posted it's no surprise that you aren't aware of the trouble people have had getting their orders.

Edit: Looks like you've experienced this yourself?

Wow your a real thinker aren't you... Ya I do feel like exactly the kind of person who has the right to pass judgement on another member, since in this case its in the defense of a long time site supporter, vendor and huge asset to the s2k community.

Other than being able to get you nominated for president I have no idea what a community organizer actually is, but if you are a mod, or would like to ask a mod to pursue the ridiculous idea that I have secretly crafted some kind of troll account that has laid dormant for 8 years and that today was the perfect day to bring it out or dormancy and unleash my incredible troll powers in order to rise to my rightful place as the king of the s2ki post whores, well then i got nothign for you.

I've been here forever, years longer than you. The reason I dont post often is that I do my best not to take advantage of the site and/or its bandwith and to only contribute to topics in which I can be helpful, mostly I am here to learn and I have been tremendously grateful for the knowledge of experts and vendors who have stepped out to help the s2k community over the years.

There is a reason that calling someone a lurker carries no stigma but when you have 10 ppd and 22k posts you earn the title post whore which has a less than generous connotation.

Finally and most importantly your exactly right. I had nearly the exact same problem more than 3 years ago (you clearly have a lot of free time every day dont you?) Even back then my post clearly indicates that Jeff is a good guy and has a good rep as an honest vendor:
01 June 2009 - 04:22 P
From what I hear he seems like a good guy...

Since he has always been an asset to the community I don't think its worth throwing a major shit fit about all this.

I can understand that everyone goes through some rought patches from time to time (even with the no calling no answering messages etc.)...

He showed up in the thread one or two posts later and explained the situation publicly and then squared things privately.

This is the exact reason I felt the need and felt I had 'THE RIGHT TO PASS JUDGEMENT' in this case. The fact is very shortly after I had my problem Jeff got in contact with me and made the problem right and that was that. Since I've clearly had more experience with him than you, (not counting what im sure is the metric shit ton of heresay and personal opionons one might come across when spending thousands upon thousands of hours trolling s2ki) I felt I should step up and speak my peace, and that a simple phone call is all that is required.

Then I guess you haven't really been a part of this site.

You're a n00b.

The reason I dont post often is that I do my best not to take advantage of the site and/or its bandwith and to only contribute to topics in which I can be helpful, mostly I am here to learn and I have been tremendously grateful for the knowledge of experts and vendors who have stepped out to help the s2k community over the years.
This is a community. You're like the neighbor who shuts themselves inside their house and never joins the block party. If you're so appreciative of the technical support and offerings of this site, how about ponying up $20 and becoming a member? You've been milking information for free? Hell, I don't even own an S2000 and I'm a member.

There is a reason that calling someone a lurker carries no stigma but when you have 10 ppd and 22k posts you earn the title post whore which has a less than generous connotation.
Too much dumb here to comment on. See my point above about this being a community. I'd rather see Aaron's posts, whimsical or technical, than your 3-wks too late dribblings.

Finally and most importantly your exactly right. I had nearly the exact same problem more than 3 years ago (you clearly have a lot of free time every day dont you?)

This has been witnessed on many occasions. No one is saying Jeff is a crook.

How the EFF is it CLEAR that you've had more dealings with Jeff than Aaron has? Or anyone for that matter? I promise you that I have had more dealings with Jeff than everyone in this thread... COMBINED.

Fact is, there is obviously a deficiency in service, whether that be attributable to supply, communication, or whatever. Jeff might also be a victim of his own success. For so long he provided unparalleled customer service, to include service calls, performing services at meets, answering technical questions over the phone, delivering parts himself to meets, etc. Now, not unlike the fragmentation of the once tightly-knit S2000 community, it seems as though he is unable, for whatever reasons, to service the community the same way he once did. I do not know what current obstacles obstruct his service these days.

I do not want to paint a picture that is not true with regards to Hardtopguy.com, simply because I don't have access to his business. If I need something, I check him first. It's that simple. As a person who provides a service requiring technical know-how, I know I sometimes get a little discouraged when I spend 45 minutes talking to someone about the intricacies of rotational physics and how they apply to bowling success only to witness that same person throwing a new ball purchased on the internet drilled elsewhere because it was cheaper. I'm not saying that has anything to do with HTG, but I tell you what, I can understand such possibilities. AGAIN, I'm commenting about MY life experience- not Jeff's.

And next time you elect to post your once-in-a-blue-moon post, consider your audience. I have twice as many posts as E3opian, but I KNOW I'm not a post whore, n00b. And I'm not even the longest-signed up member in this thread. You will be allowed back in here when you a) learn something about your community site, such as "What do CO's do?" and b) you get your facts straight about who knows what or who has the biggest johnson, etc.

I'm only posting once more because my intentions seem to have been misunderstood. I've personally witnessed Jeff's contributions to the community first hand at tech/mod days (installing soft tops or swapping differentials) and at Wake the Dragon events (which would not have been financially possible without his sponsorship.) Jeff is a great guy. You would have a hard time finding any one to tell you otherwise.

That said, I'll repeat myself here, the problems people have had in getting their orders fulfilled are well documented. If you are ordering repair parts for a daily driven vehicle, you need to be aware of the risk of delay. (Regardless of where the blame is in the supply chain.)

I don't want to get involved in any personal decisions, and I never suggested people not buy from Jeff, but only intended to respond to the conjecture about where members live and what additional efforts they should make regarding their orders.

Aaron, my apologies for responding. You know Jeff is a good friend of mine; so are you. I don't spend the kind of time on here that I used to, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna let someone come in my house and talk ish when I'm aware of it happening.

For the record, I'd give HTG $10k if that was the price of items I needed and sleep comfortably at night. In fact, I've spent well over that with him.

No apology necessary, Skip. Curiosity got the better of me and I finally read all of that mess. It left me speechless so I'm glad you showed up.

I have had a few dealings with Jeff myself. He may be a nice guy, great friend, and all that nice stuff, but he is severely lacking in customer relations. He really never answers emails or phone calls. I know what its like to run a business, and you have to take care of a lot of things, but customer satisfaction should be a priority. When you have this many complaints from so many different people, one should think about changing the way the business is ran.
