Ill give criswell a good bump, they got my Top covered under my honda care warranty.

I was also initially told that I would be charged a 90$/hour diagnosic fee, but if the problem ended up being covered under my warranty I would not have to pay it. So if they have duplicated your problem and its mechanical, then it should be under your warranty. If this is so, then you won't end up paying the diagnostic charge.

The dealership does this because they don't want to be out of the time/$ that they loose having a mechanic work on something and then not have honda reimburse them through the warranty. If it is a warranty claim all charges are billed to HOA.

Diagnosis: Intermittent short in the thermostat switch. $116 Part/labor. He said he'll call and see if it's under warranty or not...

Oh ya.. and I've only got $103 dollars in my checking account and I cut up my credit cards due to some self control issues...

Yay! Part/labor warrantied, he's working on getting them to pay for diagnosis. He said if they won't he's only charging me one hour. He must have read the above post that I can't cover more than that anyway.

I work at Hendrick Honda as a tech. I read about your car the other day and I noticed it in the shop. I saw the shop foreman help the tech diagnose the car. It sucks because the problem your car came in with is the hardest to find - electrical diagnostics. I think the problem was pin fit in the harnesses and connectors (loose electrical connections).

I'm sorry that you had to deal with all the previous drama. The guy that worked on your car before is a dumbass. It's sad but we have them in our shop. And those are the types of guys that give my dealership a bad name. It only takes one person to mess it up for everyone. But we do have a good amount of quality techs. A few of them actually own S2k's themselves and are members on this board.

Can I ask you a question? Did I race you before? I was in my black 240 (MYBLK GF plates) and you were in a Porsche. A few days later you confronted me at Shell giving me props. Was that you in the blue S2K?

No, I've never been in a Porsche, but I have seen your car around (I remember those plates). I think at a CDC event maybe? I understand not all techs are dumbasses and I know there's certain risk to buying a used car but this shit always tends to happen when the cash flow situation isn't the best so I have been super stressed out. I'm very glad to know there's some good guys down there. The ones I have spoken to this time around have been very courteous and knowlegeable (so they seem). So, I have overall been impressed with the handling of the matter this 2nd time but am just annoyed with the whole situation understandably I think.

I'm glad everything is working out ok. Hopefully the problem doesn't return. If you or anyone needs anything dealer related (info, TSB's, prices, etc.) feel free to ask me.
